Hi everyone.
I recently bought an Arctic Grey TDI Sport from Holland.
I love it ( especially compared to my old CLS :p )but would like to make a couple of improvements.
1. The Air Vents. I went into my local dealer and asked whether they would fit the chrome style. They told me that they had destroyed somebodys interior trying it so they wouldn't. Has anybody painted the vents themselves? If so how did it turn out?
2. The Door Handles. Again, I was thinking about painting them myself, but I'm not sure how they will turn out.
3. I would like to get a new gear knob and handbrake handle. Any suggestions?
4. Would M3 style mirrors look stupid?
5. I want to fit a new head unit. Will I only be able to get the keys for removal from Seat?
6. What's the best induction kit available and is it difficult to fit?
7. What's the capital of Fiji?
8. Has anybody fitted white dials?
9. There is no 9.
I think that's all for the moment, but I'm sure I'll be able to think of a few more questions.
Thanks
Pete

In responce to your questions..
1,They are a tw*t to get out.
2,You can get pre-primed ones from SEAT(don't no the part No's)
3,Check out www.seat.co.ukthey have got a few.
4,Probably,very 90's darling.
5,No any car audio place will have 'em.
6,Don't bother as they are oiled and the oil contaminates the air mass sensor.
7,F.
8,Again very 90's (we are in 2003 you know!!)
9,It's in between 8 and 10.
No problem

:D
Thanks for the reply.
But theres's nothing wrong with the 90's :p
Did you get colour coded mirrors thrown in, or did you pay extra?
If so, how much were they?
I did try my local audio place but they suggested going to Seat. Perhaps they don't what they are talking about (like me).
And if you could get back to me on the Fiji question...

1. Changed my vent surrounds twice now and its not that hard to do. there is a technique to it.. pm if you're really interested.

2. As said before. Primed ones are available because they are fitted as standard to the SE

3. VW 6spd gear knob is £13 and looks superb. I have no idea what the part number is but I think ICEMAN (pete) may still have the number

4. Probably

5. I borrowed the removal keys from my local dealer for 5 mins

6. The only induction kit for the Sport available for the public at this time. Is the Patent pending Air Rage kit. And its a biatch to fit.

7. is it Suva (sp)

8. not to my knowledge

9,. I have no more answers as you seem to have run out of questions.

Gear knob and handle are easy to replace. Got polished TT pedals. I went bling bling and have chrome affairs. Vents etc I chrome painted myself.... just getting my act together for my bling bling pimp style Vallenunga wheel and polished boss.:D

Yes the vents on the mk4 are not that easy to replace, a lot a of people have cracked and smashed things, some have been lucky. the dealers have been known to say this as well, and they are not just punting for business.

Thanks for the help so far guys.
Rage, the offer is much appreciated but if there's a technique to anything, I think it's best if I avoid it. I may see if another dealer will fit them, and if not i'll get my paint brush out.
And Suva fits in the crossword, so that'll do nicely.
So far I've decided against changing the dials.
I want to change the mirrors though because they seem to pick up a lot of wind noise on the motorway. Has anybody else had this?
One more thing... will changing the stereo cause any problems with the warranty? It's just that I heard some dealers can be a pain in the rear.

1.& 2. Everyone else has answered already.
3. Look at the my new knob thread in the Leon forum.
4. Don't do it
5. Go to your dealer
6. Most have panel filters. Some weirdo is using the Air Rage Kit:p;) . BMC should have a CDA kit ready by August.
7. I bet you don't know either.
8. No but try here: http://www.k-tec-carconcepts.de/start.htm
9. Try xy=90 if y=10 the x=?

I got them thrown in because my car was late turning up :p .
but my dealer said they would normally charge £40 to supply and paint them...

£40 for the mirrors sounds good to me.
The main reason I mentioned the M3 mirrors is because I seem to pick up quite a bit of wind resistance at high speeds in that area. Anybody else noticed this?
The VW knob will go perfectly with the interior and I can't believe it's only £13!

Yep the £13 knob is a bargain and looks superb.

Someone posted a while back about how to get rid of the wind noise caused by the mirrors. It involves a small piece of plastic tubing but thats as much as I can remember about it.

The knob is no longer £13, it's someting like £50.:(

The wind noise thing can be found here:
