I know my cars gonna have to go back to the dealer for this one but wandered if any of you have got any idea what the problem is.

When the stereo is on quite loud (no amp just standard plus cd changer) and the headlights are on, the headlights flicker. When I indicate it makes the headlights flicker and the stereo crackles momentarily. OK not big problems, probably something not earthed right, but over the last three weeks my car has become worse at starting. It started taking 2 attempts to start the thing. Now it is taking 3 or 4 attempts to start but only around 50% of the time. Sometimes I flatten the battery trying to start it, as happened at Oulton Park, but then 10 minutes later the battery seems to be charged back up enough to start the car.

This is probably unrelated to the above problem but last night I drove home from work. About half way home the engine temperature rose quickly from the normal 90° to 120° and the low coolant light began flashing. I drove the rest of the way at under 3000rpm, windows down and heater on full. This dropped the temp back down to 90°. After reaching home I checked the coolant and it appeared to be fine.

Any ideas?

Definately worth checking the -ve connection on your battery & also the earth connection to your engine, usually connected to the bellhousing of the gearbox (don't know where seat do it though).

Worth a quick check of +ve also.

Just been out in the car again only to find that for the first 2 minutes of the journey both the ABS and Traction control light were going on and off (on for 5 seconds then off for 1 second). This also caused the stereo to crackle. The engine overheated again so I had a look under the bonnet and found that the 2 fans at the front of the engine bay were not spinning.

The last time this happened it was the coilpacks, but my garage assured me that they had replaced all of them.

I have also found that I can no longer switch on the radio without the ignition on.

You seriously need to get to SEAT dealer to plug in the 1551 diag tool in and get this checked.

Although the cynical part of me would probably suspect the readout to say 'No Fault Found' :(
