View Full Version : Brakes?
I will be getting one of the chips after I see results from the RR day in January, and I have been told that I should really look at my brakes as well?
Does anybody have any info on what to get or what is best for me to have a look at? I will probably have 17's on by then as well.
Many thanks.

Best combo IMO....Tarox G88 280mm discs with EBC Greenstuff pads or Pagids if you prefer them.
Can't beat it for 300 quid really. And it does work!!
Or..if you have a grand or so lying around...AP 4 Pots are possible.
Cheers Lee, where did you get yours from?
Many thanks.

I agree with chungster, I'd add one thing though stainless steel baided lines. The stock rubber ones tend to expanded more than they should (and that goes double it the car 3 or more yrs old).
I fitted 280mm brakes on my 8 valve cupra. It was really easy. I got the callipers and carriers from a breakers 65 quid delivered. They are from a VR6 golf/corrado. Then I bought standard discs and pads from German and Swedish Autoparts. 54 quid all in. The pads are for a G60 Corrado and the Discs from a G60 MK2 Golf. They do crossdrilled zimmerman discs for about 70 quid and the Pagid pads are about 15 quid. I then sold my old brakes 4 60 quid. My friend uses the Pagids and I have seen his discs glow red with still no fade. I noticed a big difference with the brakes when slowing from over 110-120mph. They would smash you through the windscreen. Hope this helps.

i too have the VR6 callipers both on the front and rear, the 280mm discs do make a hell of a difference, and the rear discs, just stabalise the car nicely for the corner breaking.
Although if i were to recommend anything go for AP4's this will stop yeh motor no probs.
