have just taken delivery of an ex demo 20VT cupra and the seat memory seems to be inactive. Seem to recall somewhere that I saw this mentioned - any comments?

what you do is this.

1 Move the seat to foward in every direction until in wont go any further. i.e. up, Foward, the back rest right foward etc.

This resets the memory. If not, then its a trip to the dealer to get reset via the Computer.

Thanks for this really useful tip.

I too have the problem that the memory function was not work. So I followed the instruction mentioned. I now have a Seat Leon in my drive way - 40 miles from the nearest Seat Dealer - with the drivers seat stuck fully forward !! I can't even get into the car now.

I fixed the memory though, just pulled the blue plug under the front right of the seat and replaced it. So if I ever want to get the seat stuck again in the future (once I have had it towed to the garage that is), I just need to press the 2 memory button.

Just out of interest did you have the key in the ignition when you tried that fix?

Sometimes if you don't have ignition you need to do like a double press on the seat switches to get them to move.

I think though the whole electonics of the memory seats are a bit ropey to be honest, i think that SEAT are ditching these now, i heard something leading that anyway.

Another thing to try is maybe doing a disconnect of the positive terminal of the main battery, then reattaching it, obviously you'll lose the time set on your in car clock, but it may reset the seats so you can move them again.

The time is easy to reset on the dash once you reacttach the battery. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

After some faffing around, I found that if the seat moves fully forward, then the motor that obviously moves the seat back becomes disconnected from it's power lead. I managed to reroute the cable and .... it all works ! Removing and replacing the big blue power cable at the front reset the seats allowing me to set the memory.

Thanks all!
