Anyone else got squeeky brakes on a standard ibiza cupra turbo? And does anyone know what I have to do to stop the squeeking??
Cheers
Tucker
....I replaced pads and used a layer of copper grease on the backs - much better but still the odd squeal :(

i was just about to start a new thread on squeeling brakes!
i got a standard cupra and have noticed a trapped pig some where in the back or front can't quite tell though
surely i don't have to change the pads or anything the cars only done 11,000?

You could try putting some copper grease on the backs of the pads, it's not because they're worn.

It is quite annoying, my cars an 02 plate with 10k, I wasn't expecting to have squeeky brakes already.
Will upgrading the pads stop the noise? If so what pads are good?
i might just go balls out the bath and get a brembo conversion...any old excuse

Will those pads make the brakes feel less 'spongy'?
Cheers

They will help. Braided hoses and 5.1 fluid will also reduce the spongy feeling...

I'm not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination so i'll impart what i was told......
I was told it's a build up of brake dust and that if you turn your wheels full lock or take the wheels off and use a spray duster - Pure air, you can blast it out. Never done it, don;t know if it'd work just what i heard.
Secondly i once had some EBC Greenstuff pads on a R19 a couple of years back, which claimed no brakedust. I did find they really squeeled though. On calling the vendor they basically said if it doesn't settle in then i should take the pads off and sand them a touch - gently. They reckoned the reason why they were squeeling was because the pads glazed over at high temperatures and the glazing was causing the squeeling - or the mechanic got greece onto the pad which can cause the same problem.
I never sanded them down and didn't keep the car long enough to be bothered. Just my experiences, don't trust me i know nothing! :)
