I have just had to pay £120 (was £250!!) to have a fault corrected on my new Leon Sport 20VT. It is 3 months old and was imported from Holland. The Engine Management system fault light came on and stayed on.

Seat UK will not accept a warranty claim as they state that this was probably due to the PDI not setting the readiness codes on the EMS. Does anyone else have info on this ?

The UK Garage were ok about it. Spent a lot of time documenting the work they had to do to determine it wasn't another problem (computer registered 12 faults!).

Other niggles - the Headlamp washers do nothing, and the memory seats have no memory (I will try the suggested listed to fix this). Apart from that - I love the car.

By the way, I also have a quite lot of engine vibration which seems to be more pronounced in the last 500 miles. It may be wheel balancing, but I am not sure if I really want to risk another non warranty job !

TIA

£120 FOR WHAT SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 15 MINS SOUNDS VERY EXPENSIVE.

TRY CHECKING TO SEE IF DEALER IS IMPORT FRIENDLY FIRST THOUGH YOUR FAULT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT PDI.

OTHER WARRANTY JOBS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE.

The garage investigated the 12 faults found, which took them 5 hours. Only then did they figure that it was due to the non readiness.

Thanks for the feedback all the same. All I need to do is fix my seat !

ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO WAS ERASE THE FAULTS THEN ROAD TEST THE CAR TO SEE IF THEY REAPPEARED AS IT IS COMMON FOR FAULTS TO OCCUR DURING BUILD OR TRANSPORTATION OR EVEN A FLAT BATTERY CAUSES FAULTS TO REGISTER.

WIND SEAT ALL THE WAY FORWARD (TOP AND BOTTOM) UNTIL BLEEP IS HEARD THEN SET MEMORY WITH IGNITION IN AUX POSTION. MAKE SURE RED BUTTON IS IN CORRECT POSITION.

Doug, you need the VAG-COM tool from www.ross-tech.com (http://www.ross-tech.com) then you can clear the engine fault code yourself before taking to the dealer (if it's even needed then).
It's a bitch when the dealer discovers a 'max engine speed exceeded - warranty invalidated!' error http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif
I'd argue the toss that the car is covered by a pan-european warranty - local dealer just had my car for over 2 weeks (to fix ESP) and it didn't cost me a penny
Did you buy direct from Dutch dealer? Which one?

I bought the car from Van Dorst. Originally I workwd through an agent, but he died (I think) while I was waiting for the car (I couldn't reach him, and I know he had the big C).
