Some of you may know i had a snooper sr-6 neo not so long back, and got fed up with it going mad. Plus it cost me 440quid inc 2.5 years subscription fees.

Well i've gone a different route - here's what i'm buying (bought)

1 x O2 XDA Pocket PC / Phone (colour, touchscreen PDA)
1 x Tom Tom Navigation 2 software (www.tomtom.com)
1 x GPS reciever (12 satellite channels)
1 x 256mb SD upgrade for the XDA
1 x 6-in-1 card reader (SD, compactflash, memory stick etc)

Basically what this should get me is

- a phone
- a full colour PDA
- a speed camera locator (integrated into sat nav)
- full colour, 3d sat nav, with voice prompts
- a mp3 player

.. and just about anything else u can think of to do with a PDA.

Total cost ~500quid.

I'm hoping to plug this lot together early next week, a review will be forthcoming :)

Unless the tom tom stuff has been ugpraded of late, it's apparently not the best for keeping camera's up to date :(

There's some very good databases online - some free, some not. You can choose which as the cameras are just POIs (Points of Interest) on tom tom (i.e. it's nothing to do with tom tom themselves - it's all third party). I've found it *more* acurate thus far than my old Snooper S6-R which i paid subscription for..

Check out POI Warner, it has auto-sync with the internet to download them!
