Ok, out last night happily listening to a CD. My wife decides she is fed up with the CD and wants to listen to the radio - she then presses lots of different button sequences on the unit and ends up with it in the dreaded '2 Safe' mode !

I have tried 3 times today to enter the code, each time I end up having to leave the radio on for 2 hours waiting for the ****** '2 safe' to time out. Now either Seat have given me the wrong code, or I am misunderstanding the manual 'instructions'.

After '2 Safe' times out I get a '2000' prompt. I then enter the code using the number keys. I then press and hold 'Prog'. I then get a '1000' prompt ! Tried the code again and get the '2 Safe' prompt !!!

Can anyone on here give me the exact sequence to use, or have I got a duffer :(

I have done a search already, and see that quite a few other people have had this problem - but so far none of the solutions have worked for me :(

Much as I enjoy the engine 'whoosh whistle' soundtrack I would like to get the CD player working again, and I would rather not have to visit the dealership for something so trivial.

Cheers,
Bob

I gave the correct sequence here (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19949)

If that doesn`t work then i think its a trip to the dealer :(

That was the 1st one I tried :(
When I press the PROG key it doesn't beep, and it either goes straight to '1000' or '2 Safe'. Should I have the key in the ignition or the engine on (clutching at straws here !).

I had to do this the other day when I removed the fuse to re-initialise the CDchanger.

When it says 1000 press the numbers 1234 on the radio to change the 1000 to your number and then press prog. That should be it. When I locked it out I turned the radio on with the ignition off, locked the car and came back later.

It SHOULD be that simple, if not pop to your dealer.

Nothing works :(

My guess is that in her random pressings my wife has somehow managed to program in a different code (if this is possible). Pain in the @rse that I now have to go to the dealers for this as they are hardly local. Still gives me another excuse to go for a drive I suppose...

Cheers

Mark,

That's one less woman for you to work your charms on - she was not impressed with that comment ;)

No worries ... my wife is the same..

except our battle ground is the aircon setting......

:(

Please apologies to your nearest and dearest Bob for me I'm sure she's a real princess really..:)

incedentally..:) I programmed my radio yesterday morning after I had disconnected my battery to reset the throttle potentiometer..

It was straightforward as per the linked thread...

you must have a bigger problem...try disconnecting your battery and see if the resulting reprogramme then works.

battery disconnected (black lead) for 10 seconds..

reconnect battery

leave car for 4 minutes

this will then have realigned your throttle potentiometer as well so thats a bonus..your idle speed will be lower and or more regular too and you'll get max throttle when you need it instead of a false reading...:)

Took it in to the dealers this morning, they checked the serial number on the radio and it was different to the one listed in the Aura manual ! They phoned Seat and got me a new code to try. So I was doing the right thing, just with the wrong code !

If anyone here has an Aura manual with the serial no:
SEZ2Z6B1733425

then let me know, because I probably have the correct code for your radio !

*Edit* The new code worked :)
