This one is aimed @ Revo,
What are your thoughts on octane boosters guys? I'm intrigued to know what the car would go like on timing 9 but obviously dont want to do this without the correct fuel. Read a couple of threads on Scoobynet discussing/recommending NF octane booster.

Also Silkolene has one available, it has also got good reviews:

Most of the people I know use Millers, even then I would try it in normal settings and then possibly one position up from your optimax setting. Timing 9 would still be a tad too much.

How do you reckon a standard Leon Cupra would run with it? Quicker? Any difference in economy? Would it help the engine (in a similar way to Optimax)? How about Optimax and octane boost together?

Kev, I read that Millers only raises the Octane by 2 points i.e 0.2 of a ron which is basically sod all. That aint gonna make much difference. A dose of NF is supposed to raise a tank by 20 points i.e. 2 full ron.
ive seen the silkolene stuff, available from www.redlinemotorsport.co.uk think bill uses a tin a day @ trackdays

I use NF in my Scooby when I go to track days, always seems to go a little better with it in. Although it's too expensive to use with every fill up and as most of the week I'm stuck in traffic it's not worth using it.
Might as well just run with 100 Octane fuel. I think some tracks have 102 too.

Right, now all I need is a petrol station that sells it Ed :D
If we follow Europe then 100RON petrol should be on the forecourt in the future.

Yes, I'd seen a few threads on other boards about BP 100ron. Unfortunately waiting for anything isn't in my vocabulary  :bounce: :bored:

Hehe, they're already using it on the Cupra championchips. 106ron!!!!
excerpt from 76racings web site...
76 has over 50 years of experience of design and making of racing fuels and was the first company in the world to produce a high octane unleaded racing fuel. 76 is the fuel of NASCAR, Grand AM, British F3 and GT, SEAT Cupra Championships etc.
Cool.
Is there any reason why our cars wont take 106RON as standard? Are there any negative affects?
Cheers

Oh how we giggled at the list of destruction:
-2 sets of brake pads, "check!"
-1 set of competition tyres, "check!"
-1 can of octane booster, "check!"
Maybe it was the badger trying to stop the madness Bill, ate your tyres, chewed yer pads and drank the booster!

Cupramax, do you really need the car to go faster, and how long does the engine take to adjust to it ?
P.S. Surely the 106ron would take performance figures near to the 300bhp figure
I just chuck 5 litres of toluene in for every 45 litres of optimax (114ron). This is just enough to run timing 9 with 3-6kw of retard. A 15% mix gives no retard. Cost £1 per litre, so £1 on a tankfull more than optimax. I found millers wasn't enough to run timing 8. The knock sensors din't retard quite as much on timing 7 with millers.
