Does the Traction Control in the LCR happily cope with the added horseys of REVO? Can't imagine why it shouldn't, but thought I'd ask...

Think I'm gonna go to Big Boyz Toyz in Thurrock on Saturday and get my demo for a trip down to Southampton. Anyone have any experience of them?

It copes fine if you're sensible, but it does kick in a lot more if you boot it everywhere (obviously).

I've noticed that you seem to actually get some drift/understeer with the tcs and esp after the Revo when hard on the power. But it's far from extreme, in the dry.

I'm finding you have to be a little careful in the wet/slippy conditions, if you're really hamfisted (or footed) it can get into the worrying category, but only because you're not used to it happening (I'm on the OE fit Pirellis-which peeps have said are not good in the wet).

I stress that this is only if you do silly things like boot it on the apex in the wet  in fact, or booting it in a straight line and letting the wheels spin, in third, and fourth. :lol2:

Apparently, a few people have commented on the same.

I've managed to get the traction control light on solidly in the first four gears when giving it large in damp conditions. But I don't recommend you try it at home children!

Seems to cope fine, but don't forget, if it comes on it's taking far more away than you want it to, with practice and TCS switched off, you can get very good getaways without excessive wheelspin.

You can also get getaways very similar with it switched on you are after all in charge of the most important technical element of all this ie: your right foot!!!.

When I had the REVO demo installed yes the TCS came on more but you tend to drive harder as you have so much more power.

I think i read somewhere that if you turn the esp off and really get yourself into trouble then it cuts back in anyway.

anyone got first hand experience of this as i havent the bottle yet to give it a go

Doesn't cut back in, in fact you can't actually turn it off, turning it "off" just reduces it's sensitivity, apparently (according to other posts). I've had it kick in while it's been "off".

But that's the ESP, not the TC. As far as I can tell the TC does get turned off.

Do the LCRs have EBA (Brake assist)? If so, can you turn that off, cos it'd be really annoying having that cutting in on a track day.

Yes they do and no not obviously (via switch).

Hi

Can anyone please explain a few things or help ! ..

I have a passat 1.8t with revo and sps3 - runs great , proabably nothing like the Seat's but its fun ..

but unless its very dry , the tyres spin sooo easily !

not bothered about tyre wear , more worried about sliding off into a ditch !

the car dosnt have TC and i dont think its possible to put the VW kit in to make it work ( not sure though ! )

but ive found "Racelogic" do a box provided the car has ABS / speed sensors

the thing is they mention this on the website and i wondered if the standard TC or ESP would work like this too

Q:- Doesn't cutting the fuel affect the catalytic converter, or the lambda sensor?

A:- We have carried out many tests on dynos with various manufacturer's and on the road with thermocouple probes before and after the catalytic converter, and we could not measure a significant rise in cat temperature when Traction Control was operating. Almost all traction control situations are on full throttle, and generally the ECU does not read the lambda sensors on full throttle. If a sustained traction control event occurs on part throttle (eg. ice) then the lambda sensor will start to richen up the mixture on the firing injectors, which combined with the excess air from the unfired cylinders may cause a rise in cat temperature. It is worth being aware of this, and backing off the throttle after about 30 seconds of sustained missfire on ice or snow.

has anyone on here tried racelogic + REVO ? , has anyone tried fitting factory TC or ESP ?

would really appreciate any suggestions , comments

Paul

I've driven a chipped Ibiza with Racelogic. it is 'ok' but basically you will chew your clutch, especially if you use launch control.

thanks for the info

i wasnt going to go for the launch control option

can you remember if it acts similar to a factory TC system ?

did u spend long driving it ? , try changing the settings ?

I can't believe more people haven't mentioned the traction issue with re-mapped cars. I had mine re-mapped (Leon FR petrol) and it wheelspins in third quite often. If these cars were four wheel drive they would be unbeatable, but they're not. It can be quite annoying at times but having said that I wouldn't not have it, as once you get going the power is pretty addictive.

I used to have a 04 cupra (180) with TC which was rubbish!!!! the way it works is that it judges if wheels are going to spin then cuts in early by taking the power away for instance from one cylinder and depending on how bad the spin i had the car feel like it stalled off the lights! as engine cut all all of its power, now this is why it is rubbish TC does not give the power back slowerly and steady as soon as the wheels stop spinning or stop trying to spin it gives you all the power back straight away and your back to square one. so if you got TC i always when i got in the car turned it off after belt was on as it was quicker to drive with out it you just ease of the throttle.

I now got a cupra R that is remaped eith ESP electronic stability program which is by far a better system than TC it works like TC stoping the front wheels spinning but has a added handling advantage it works by braking individual wheels so effectivly you can be in 2nd gear flat out round a round about and it will take power and give it back wear it can, ESP still is not as good as it could be does come in early and i can still drive faster with it off as posted by another user depends on your right foot i normaly drive with ESP off up to about 60 -80 mph as it is always flashing under these speeds and turn it back on after theses speeds or if bends are bit hairy. I been caught out once with it not on accerated into round about in 2nd lifted off to steer round and back end floo out big over steer luckly big round about and late at night i could steer into it and bit of throttle to pull front end back close shave as if ESP was on probably would not happen!
