View Full Version : SUPERSPRINT = Management Light???

Had the Supersprint on the car for a few months now. Ever seen it's been on, the management light has been on. I know that a few people have had this problem.
Why does it cause this and is there anything you can do to get the fault code of the ecu?? Without taking the exhaust off that is!!! Can it be cured???
Answers on a postcard please.............
have you still got your cat?
Mark
i got an aftermarket system on (from the very beginning) which is very similar to supersprint (i have no mid box either), and no CEL at all. if it triggers the CEL, then it's something with the cat.

Still got the cat, the system is cat-back. I've even taken the straight through centre section out and put the OE centre back in place. I've done the old battery/reset job a few times, and without fail, the management light will come on after 25 miles!
Never touched the cat or the lambda's when fitting the exhaust. Any suggestions??
It's been back to the dealer a few times for various other things, and they've said the it's the exhaust throwing the light up.....'NO SH*T SHERLOCK!!!' And that i should take it off. NOT a mod friendly dealer!!
Still none the wiser. :(

You need to get a diagnostic tool onto the car (vag-com, diagra etc) and find out exactly what code is tripping the MIL, it could be that the changed back pressure has meant the fuelling trims are hitting there clips or similar. However i can't see a replacement exaust making that much difference to airflow.

They never did tell what the fault code was, and to be fair i never asked, cos i'd heard that people have had problems with Supersprint.
The car's got to go in for a service soon so i'll get it plugged in again......I'm beginning to think that something needs changing and that the dealer can't be arsed to tell me/won't do it because the car is 'modded'!!!!
They went balistic when they opened the bonnet at the last service and found an induction kit.....practically read me the riot act!!!
Needless to say i've taken it off now because it wasn't worth the grief!

Read you the riot act!!! You're the fecking customer... they service YOU, not visa versa.
Dump them... You will only get grief off them by the sounds of it..

Ive got the supersprint cat back as did saul and Zboyd on their previous cars, never had a problem with it but we did all get it fitted by someone we could trust in the shape of Awesome gti.
The prob at a guess would be one of the lambda probes faulty, this should be a warrenty item and take no sh*t off them as the "cat back exhaust" is after this sort of problem and cannot be to blame if this is the case.
Sounds like to me its time to find a new SEAT dealer though,as they are simply pointing the finger at the mods and using this as a kop out to not do the work.
wonder what they would say if they saw my car!

My thoughts exactly.
Should have seen the blokes face when he saw the induction kit, looked like he was going to strangle me!! Started harping on about how the warranty on the engine/drivetrain was void because i'd added 'alternative' parts.
Likewise, if the CAT went wrong, they wouldn't change it because the OE exhaust has been replaced.
C*nts is not the word.
Anyone know of 'mod friendly' dealers in the East of England??
BILL, How much are you looking at for you Otteinger ECU???

Thanks Bill
What's the code on your ECU?? Assuming that we have to have the same codes, or does that not make a blind bit of difference?
I had a similar problem after my Milltek was fitted and it turned out to be moisture in the lambda sensor, once this was dried out the light has not come on since.

Steve-L
Did the lambda dry out via the heat omitted by the exhaust??? Or did you have to take it/them out and dry um off??
Bill
Mines a 2001 'X'......should be the same then i suppose, although i did have a new one fitted under warranty.......i check and let you know.
Sim
Going in for a service soon, so i'll get it plugged in and see what code gets thrown up.
Cheers
