View Full Version : CD Changer to Grundig Aura question
Does anyone know if the Grundig Aura has an MBus interface?
Can I connect an Alpine MBus changer (eg CHMS630) directly, or an AiNet CD changer simply with a KCA130B adapter?
I don't want anything special, just a CD changer to fill the hole in the Leon Glovebox.
Any help appreciated... thanks!

The Alpine 6 CD changers will fit where the standard unit goes with a bit of minor modding but they wont interface with the standard HU. Sony do however do a unit that will plug straight in.
I was under the impression that sony changers required an expensive box of tricks to interface with the stock HU.
I'd be interested to know which Sony unit this is that plugs right in, or failing that where I can get the adapter in Germany.

All after market changers will need an adapter to work with the standard HU.
AFAIK the only two you can use at the momnet are sony and alpine Mbus changers with an adapter. I'd get the alpine one personally but the adapter is more difficult to find.

Answering my own questions here.
I've found an Alpine-Seat adaptor from AIV which sells for Euro135
Also found a Panasonic-Seat adaptor from Audiotechnik Dietz which sells for Euro70 (but need to find a chassis ground somewhere!)
Both for sale in Germany (not sure what stock levels are like).
Also found that Edworthys (www.edworthys.co.uk) do an Alpine to Aura package... and seem to be the only people that will ship to a non-UK address!
Has anyone used them?

I did this to both my old Leon and my dads current one, the 'box of tricks' that is needed to connect the Aura unit to the Sony CDx 69 model i think is about £50
But it is a simple job, even managed to get the same changer linked to my Ibiza Alana unit, so well chuffed.

p.s i will look for a part number if anyone is interested

Alpine, panasonic, sony and Kenwood all make 6/8 disc changers that work but all require interface units and usually work out more expensive than the standard seat unit from a dealer

A sony with a convertor will cost £150 much cheaper than a seat changer from a dealer.

Hmmmm, not bad :) Cheers for the link.
One thing with the sony - do i need any mounts, or does it come with them or what?? (Its for a Leon 52 plate)

You'll need to make some mounts yourself if you're putting it in the glovebox, unless the ones that come with it work. I'm sure a few people have already fitted a sony on here and so can advise.

I'm looking to change the standard AURA head unit in MY52 Leon and wanted to know if I can connect the 6 Disc changer to any other head units, Alpine preferably?
I popped into Good old Halfords and the chap said there it was imposable. But I don't believe him.
Any Ideas?? What do I need??
