View Full Version : Leon Cupra 4?

Hi All,

I am planning on buying a Leon Cupra pretty soon and have a query which I'm hoping someone will be able to help with.

At first I planned to get a U.K. spec Cupra from my local dealer. However, I'm now looking seriously at buying an imported Leon Cupra 4 2.8 V6, partly because of their spec and rarity, but also because the U.K. spec Cupra now seems to be coming with less and less equipment than originally stated. What have Seat got to say about this?

Would I be better off importing a standard Cupra or getting a U.K. sourced model? If I decided to go for the Cupra 4, does anyone know what insurance group it's in - can you recommend anyone who insures hi-spec imported cars?

With thanks,
Mark W.

If you do get it, Use www.seat-imports.co.uk (http://www.seat-imports.co.uk) and mention this site.

Tesco's is a good bet for insurance.

I've been told by a dealer in Holland that the factory is NOT building 4 wheel drive right hand drive cars yet!
Why would you want a V6 motor when the 1.8T easily chips to 210+bhp?
PS I'll sell you my 20VT if you fancy it - better spec than proper UK Cupras as well http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

Hello,

Good point - a 1.8T chipped up would be quite cool... What would the differences be between the UK spec and an imported model?

According to seat-imports.co.uk, the Cupra 4 V6 is being built now. Two are due to arrive in the U.K. in 8 weeks time.

Much to ponder still...

Look at the spec of mine on the For Sale section - that's better than any UK car, new or old because it's got the fully blown on baord computer that gives mpg, estimated tank range, journey time, etc
Plus it's got a £500 alarm system!
Just be careful of some imports that are poor spec...

I take back what I said - you can order the Cupra 4 V6 from the factory in rhd. In fact I've just ordered one! I'll bum around in it till I can get my hands on a Leon Cupra R next year http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Excellent!

Out of interest, did you order it through an import company or direct from the factory yourself?

whrrr m8, I've ordered thru a Dutch dealer.
If you're interested and wanna be quick (for a bit of a discount) they're about 44500 dutch guilders. The pound is strong at the mo, so on about 3.67 guilders to the pound you're looking at about £14250 including vat. Add another £300 for 12 months tax and to get over to Holland and back, for about £14550 you can have one http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif
This is FAR safer than ordering through an import agency in this country cos your deposit (about 9000 guilders) goes straight to the dutch dealer. This guy has been trading for years and there's no worries about the import agency going bust or doing a runner with your money. Just look at the probs with greyuk, etc in recent months.
Let me know if you're interested
email seat20vt@yahoo.com
I'll help organise things for you and assist with registration etc.
I plan on running mine for 3-6 months, sell for a profit and then ordering a Cupra R http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

For low cost insurance, try www.elephant.co.uk, (http://www.elephant.co.uk,) it's the cheapest I've found and it seems to cater for imports pretty well

I got quoted £686 from Direct Line for Cupra 4 when I phoned them (Am 29 with clean license). Their website quoted me about £775 so it's worth calling instead!

PS Congrat's to Lee on a great site!
