View Full Version : a little worried
i did the wrong thing and read a thread about engine codes and the latter AYP coded engine to be slower:(
im gettin a cupra very soon but its gona be an AYP as i want a 2001- on
am i still gona manage a 200 bhp once revo'd??
when i have it revo'd will the rollin rd it so i get graphs??
any help appreciated as this has worried me slightly i dont want it losing top end etc like ive heard:(
PJVTS - have a look at the link below from a RR day back in Feb time where I logged all the engine codes, mods etc for the engines
www.seatcupra.net/~mark/rr/rr.htm
thatshould set aside any fears as it didn't show the AYP's to 'do' bad power
Mark
so i take it im worrying about nothing!

Refrerence M0rks RR results. look at My Cupra R. It's an AYP engine and is standard apart from a Green panel filter and some DIY induction mods. It pushes 202 BHP over 180 STD at the rollers (so given an open road with more air getting to the intercooler....)
The R engnie IS NO DIFFERENT to the STD 20VT apart from ECU. Thus I think you ought not to worry.

I thought the R has different intercoolers? hence why a 20VT CR can get to 270bhp with revo, yet a non R can't manage as much?
Neandethal - you're comparing the Leon R with the Leon 20vt (Sport, Cupra)
different Turbo's make up the difference there.

cheers guys ill stop worryin

Dor is talking about the Ibiza R, not the leon
repeat after me:

Would this be the "true" limited edition Seat R model and not the freely available other R model? :p

Pete,
As a reference my car has the AYP engine code and I gather you were reasonably impressed when i took you out:D :D
the engine code denotes slight differences between the engine
there aws some talk of some codes giving different power - it's inconclusive
Mark
yours is an 02 plate so same age as what im lookin at!:D

No difference in power after tuning with all Ibiza Cupra engine codes whether it be 99/00/01/02 MY.
We have just sorted out the issues we were having with the 6K0906032 ecu (tuning was completed eons ago) and will release this as soon as a certain test car has a new maf fitted for the RR tests.
Our own Cupra is AYP engine code and has been running chips or software for 35k. Had the usual suspects replaced such as MAF and coils but so has every standard car on the road. Otherwise car has been very abused with trouble free drivetrain (shame the rest of the car was not as strong as the engine)
