View Full Version : Exhaust soot
I picked up my 20vt a few months ago and I've noticed the exhaust is sooty.
I spoke to the Seat dealer who says that this is a problem, but is normal. Seat are aware, but no fix is available (ECU mapping problem).
I know chipping it would fix it, but I don't fancy spending 500 quid for 15-20 bhp more.
Any idea's?
Also, my turbo "flutters/chirps" when I lift off. I thought re-circ valves were supposed to be quiet?
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Mine flutters/chirps as well - i thought the DV might be knackered...

Good excuse to buy a Forge one. Only 60/70 quid or so, well worth it in my experience.
Cheers
Andy
All catalyst/unleaded cars have black exhausts. Don't worry about it and there is no fix from SEAT UK as nothing is wrong.
Valve mentioned will stop noise and improve drivability.

Thanks guys!
I'll probably chicken out and get the DV fitted....

I can't find a suitable thread, so appologies in advance......
About the Forge DV06:
What's the suituation concerning Seat factory warranty? Is it still valid? Could the original DV be quickly swapped back if required?
Do I need to tell the seat dealer when I get it serviced?
Interestingly, my local dealer says that the car is fine and it's supposed to chrip!

PS. Great forum, keep it up!

It could be swapped back in no time I'm sure.

Depends on the dealer I guess. Mine is very understanding, as in they supplied and fitted it.
