View Full Version : Changing my Leon for new Ibiza SC Sport
Hi!
I am considering changing my 2.0 TDI Leon for a new Ibiza SC sport 1.6 DSG. I was wondering if the 17" wheels (at £140 more) would make the ride unbearable with the sports suspension? My Leon has the sports suspension with 17" wheels and is a bit of a bone shaker, but handles brilliantly. Also does the ibiza have the blown bulb warning feature that all Leons have? One more question.... can I expect a discount on the new car, given the current climate? I have a feeling that my 06 plate leon with its extras and only 25K miles should be worth £9500/£10,000 at trade in.
Many thanks for any advice you can give
Ian :)
Don't know if you'll get a discount on the car, but they are eager to sell new cars, and they're selling alot of good second hand cars (around here at least) so you're desirable on two counts, no only will you buy a new car, but they should have little trouble selling on your part ex.
Not sure if they'll discount the price, or throw some extras aat you etc. go and talk, remember that they want to sell you the car, get as much as you can from them...
As for the sport + 17", i dont have my car yet so can't tell you, but i think there are a couple of people on here with that mix, and they'll let you know.

I have a new Ibiza Sport with 17in wheels and yes the ride is as you say a bit of a bone shaker. As for bulb failure warning I dont think its fitted on the Ibiza cant see anything mentioned ihandbook
Many thanks guys. I think I will be ordering one this week. One more question... I hear not all th extras packs are shown on the confingurator. Is there a luxury pack available with auto dimming rear view mirror, auto lights and rain sensitive wipers?
Cheers
Ian:)
Not sure Ian, I don't remember the sport desing pack being on there, but it si in the brochure.. I'll have a look and see if i can find my lovely ibiza brochure and let you know :)

Thanks Cyphnar,
Are you happy with the ride height? I notices a thread on here about how high the cars sit

I don't have my car yet! :( so no idea on the ride height, I did see that thread and am a bit worried.. but we'll see what it's like when i get mine.

Hi again
Hope I am not asking too many questions. I just know from experience that you guys will know so much more than the dealers! If I opt for the ipod connection (with bluetooth) is the usb socket/ ipod adaptor in the glove box? At present in my Leon I have a dealer fit adaptor that plugs into the head unit, where the cd changer would plug in, and has a lead for the ipod into the glove box.
Many thanks
Ian

The new ibiza does have bulb failure warning as standard.
Bluetooth and usb/ipod, what happens there is that the usb is there so you can buy the ipod cradle for part for £50 and that will make your ipod work
Regards to discounts, you wont get alot off as we can't get the car's so why discount when the product is wanted!
Cool. So the ipod cradle is in the car not the glove box?

You have to buy the cradle from parts for £60 and then it sits near the cup holders
Thanks Darryl, Crap idea tho, I have a car only ipod nano that I leave in the car all the time. The last thing I want to do is remove it every time I leave the car. I will have to hope an aftermarket lead that goes directly into the back of the head unit is available, then the ipod can live int he glove box
Cheers again. hope the px on my Leon is good lol

well it sits far back init to the dash and I don't think you would be able to see it once its in as it rather dark I think your be fine. Its alot better than the leon Ipod connection as this one brings up the names on the dash also rather and just 6 playlist folders

same with the exeo they are all factory orders
I'm the guy with the 1.9 SC that was riding high.
I didnt consider the suspension on the SC to be 'bone-shaking' at all. It rides over bumps with hardly a dull thud, even with the pro-sport Eibach springs....
Mind you, I am coming from a Smart ForFour Brabus which I owned for 3 years. Now, that is what I call 'bone-shaking', & everytime I went over a pothole, the rims had to be beat out! Those low profile tyres may look cool, but on todays roads I'd rather have the SC setup & not have to spend my time driving watching out for pot-holes!

I have the same problem with my brabus roadster the wheels are so soft :(
Yah....but my tyre guy says the Brabus wheels are a quality product. He managed to straighten the original wheels every time long after an aftermarket replacement would have cracked!
Well I have an ibiza sport on test drive for 24 hours (its the 5 door tho). I think the suspension is about right. Drives nicely. Feels as stable as my Leon. I am liking it so far. Shame the fuel filler has to be unlocked with a key, but its not the end of the world eh
Ian :)
You can just leave the filler cap unlocked if you wish.........
lol I guess im too used to the golf/leon fuel filler door on the central locking :)

Defo, they defo look the part wouldn't change them either !
Well, I spoke to my dealer today and he said we're looking at 12 weeks for the sc sport. so their original hope of getting them through the factory quicker looks unfounded. I have a question tho, is twelve weeks from order to me having the car? or from my order to the car being built 9+2weeksish shipping etc??

Hey,
Well I have been driving around in my Ibiza sport demonstrator all evening. I love it!! It drives far better than my leon. I will try and order one tomorow. One more question.... do all SC sports have the white/light grey sections on the dashboard, along with matching inserts in the door linings? I have noticed they are shown as black in the brochure.
Cheers guys
Ian :)

No it would be black normaly, the white bits are part of the design pack £206
Fantastic!
I am not that keen on the white, so black will be great
oooops Ive ordered the car
Its a 1.6 DSG sport in Black magic with:
17" alloys
Climate
Cruise
ESP etc
Bluetooth and Ipod
Auto mirror, auto wipers and parking sensors
Tinted windows
Folding mirrors
looks like a 12 week lead time
the px on the Leon terrible :( oh well eh!
Very excited now

I dropped the tinted windows today. I realised that they were the rear windows only, and on a black car it would have made it look like a van lol

Hey Canonman,
Quick question... my dealer tried to order my car on the system today and cruise does not come up as an option. he said he will have to order the car manually. is this right?
Cheers

I have the TFsi with 18" and hate the ride after 3 years - am I getting middle-aged?
Anyway, keeping an eye on this thread as the SC Sport has all I want, plus the 17" alloys for style [B)] but unfortunately comes with the sport suspension
