Just wondering, what sort of power figure are you likely to see from a Cupra 2.0 16v running throttle bodies??

Between 170&180bhp i would imagine, but please set me straight.

Poss thinking about getting a Mk2 Beeza 2.0 16v, and turning it into a rally-slag rep.

Comments please.

Thanks

not including head, cams?

I know it's been discussed before lots

If i were you i'd do the head cams etc, run std induction & get that chipped, else you'll pour money at ECU's mapping & wiring looms

Look at Bill's example on his website. Spec higher than you state but a fair bit more power too (and money).

RobT is a good example on what you get power per mod wise.
His motor is 2ltr (9A) BRM built (pukka) motor. Running Lumentiion mappable ecu, gas flowed head and 276 schrick cams. Mapped up running on the ABF type injection system it made ~180bhp.
Rob changed to Badger5 Direct to Head throttle bodies, installed them, remapped his engine and got 217bhp.

My own Jetta runs milder cams than Rob's, but iotherwise is pretty similar spec, and gets around the 200bhp level depending on RR and conditions. (recently did 190bhp @ Stealth on CGTi 16v shootout - most powerful n/a 16v on the day I might add :p)

Don;t bother with t'bodies until you have at least sorted the engine out mechanically and run a gas flowed head and cams.. T'bodies on an otherwise stock engine will be dissapointing I think.

I have some info I can email you and you can browse my Badger5 website for info.

not too good on the 8vas it has the inlet on the back of the engine
unless you get the head off a new beetle, called cross flow,i do remember some threads about this some time back:cheers:

They can work well and I have some running on race cars in Taiwan.. They do need cold air feed and other engine mods to justify their use.
Not suitable on an otherwise std engine.
