View Full Version : What Oil for TDI
Yes I have read the forum post on Oil changes etc
I have a new TDI S (90Bhp) Leon. now am I correct in that my engine should use the VW 505 01 or 505 00
my 90bhp aint the PD engine so would it take the VW 505 00 oil or do ALL new TDIs whether they are PD or not take the VW 505 01 oil?

The 505 01 is PD specific, all PD engines must use oils that meet this spec. I'm not sure if you'd want to use it just because of the price involved.
I think a good synthetic oil (doesn't have to be 50501) would still be a good idea. My 110 beeza used Motul 6100 synergy from the 1st change on.

The 90 BHP engine doesn't need the special PD oil.
I use millers XFE when I change the oil ( in between services at the dealer).
Take a look at http://www.millersoils.co.uk.
Thx for the tip u may wanna try this
zx1 is brilliant. I put this in my 89 VW gold GTI it made the whole engine quiet, and gave better mpg.
I may put this in my Leon then.
ZX1 Oil (http://www.team-zx1.co.uk/main.cfm?page=intro#zx1microoil)
it is avaiable to order online at
