I have a problem the car, Ibiza Cupra 1.8T. Quick overview is that when you put the power down 50% of the time the turbo takes age's to get going. The power delivery is very rough not as smooth as it should be. Is that the car just needs a general tune? Any thoughts on the above, would be appraicated.

maybe an aftermarket DV would help

I have replaced that standard Dump valve over 3 months ago. But to be honest it was doing it before I change it.

I spose the turbo could be a little bit knackard. You should have the turbo checked out. I don't know where would be the best place to have it checked but i'nm sure someone here will.

Take it the turbo is not covered under warranty.

just been out in the car. It was playing up again, example, set off from lights, changed into second, the turbo kicked in as normal but i lost power for about 2 seconds then the car took off again, still in second gear. Could it be the turbo is knackard?????? If so what is the cost of a new one??

Sounds like something is jamming which could only need lubricating or it might need to be replaced, it could be a number of things such as the turbo, wastegate, throttle body. It could even be the ECU sending out bad signals either because a wire is half broken or because its getting bad readings from sensors. You really need to have a qualitfied mechanic take a look at it.

Sounds more like you are overboosting and the the ECU is attempting to stop the boost spike destroying you perhaps?

Whats the best way to stop the over boosting? re-map? jabba?

first thing to do is get hold of a boost gauge - it will show you what's going on... sounds just like a 5psi moment... as said - due to over boosting...

does the boost feel as if it is coming on and off. sounds very like the AFM

If by AFM (Air Flow Meter) you mean the the MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) it dosnt sound like that at all. MAF problems dont come and go... power lose due to a MAF problem isn't speradic... its constant :(
