View Full Version : Boost Guages
Are you still selling and fitting boost guages?
If so then what ones are they and how much are they (Fitted)?
Are they backlit (In red?)?
I will be up in Chltenham around the 18th-19th Jan.... would you have any in stock or would I need to order in advance?
Thanks,
Ben

Check out my Power Engineering one first Ben.......fitted by the masters that is Amethyst.
Ain't got a pic....but its the business! Just ask Swinny......
50 quid for the gauge, and 50 quid for the fitting. 100 quid all in.....
Cheers Lee,
Flapper, can you confirm the price and availability of this please.
I'm doing the Powerstation RR on 19th Jan so i might come up on the 18th, get an oil change and the boost guage. :)
Thanks,
Ben
didnt even get to see yours lee , sorry
i'll ask graham when he gets back , ben , as i think we have only the tim ones in ,
LEE where d'ya get your power eng one from ?????
Flapper,
How much are the TIM ones then? Fitted?
Got any pictures?
Lee, what are the differences between your PE one and the TIM ones? Just looks I guess? Where do you get them from/fitted?
Flapper, do you have any details about how they are fitted? Do you have to put holes in the dash etc.... my main worry is that I will probably have to remove the guage when i sell the car and i don't want big holes in the dash.
Thanks,
Ben

For me Power Eng one....i got it from.....what for it....Power Engineering!!! www.powerengineering.co.uk
go there to see a pic of it.
You can choose between a white or black face......and its normal backlit (white bulb).
I choose their gauge cos it goes from -15psi to 20psi....me car does a max of 17psi (rarely) and 12psi most of the time....and i wanted a gauge that moved alot (cos its just intriguing to see it!)....it does the job perfectly. settles at -9.5 psi on idle...and it swings all the way over to 12psi when you give it some sh1t.
The TIM ones are in bar terms...and have the green/yellow/red bits that i never took a liking to. the needle won't move as much either.
BUT.....they got a new gauge in recently..thats been fitted to Neil's silver bullet..... and its very similar to mine, except it too is in bar and not psi.
Beware getting that or the PE one.....the TIM fits into the TIM pod no problems...but the other 2 need some extra fettling before it worked. Graham did it....and i'm one happy chappy!!
PE will not fit it....cos they only fit it to Scoobs/Evos....but Amethyst were more than willing to have a go with it, and job well done.
Cheers Lee,
Flapper, any chance you can order a PE one in before 18th Jan??? Pleeeeaaase!
Thats the only time I will be up around Cheltenham for the forseeable future.
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
Have you had a look? And do you like it???
Just checking.....
Be prepared for Amethyst to take over an hour to fit it...cos its not that straight forward....but since they did mine, they should know what bits are required now.
Main problem was the connecting hose...cos the PE valve is of a slightly different size to that of the TIM ones...but Graham will fill you in on that anyway.

Lee
Yeah, cheers Lee... just had a look at it and yes it looks nice.
I'm a tiny bit concerned that its a newish product and not made by some big respected guage company.... for all I know the car could be putting out 9psi and the guage reading 12psi, not that it matters THAT much.
Anyway, I guess its just an established brand guage with their own face added to it.
I'll give Graham a call tommorow... if he's working.
Cheers

Ben,
The gauges are calibrated. Considering they sell truck loads of the gauge to Scooby/Evo owners....i don't think you should be worried one bit.
I mean....after fitting mine, i saw nothing but 12psi....EXACTLY what RSD told me the Oettinger chip makes the turbo run at.
It did on the odd occasion, boost to 17psi...which Bill has seen on his gauge too...which is a different one to mine. We both see 12psi on a regular basis....
I love it.
Cool.... I've ordered one! :)
Amethyst are fitting it on the 18th Jan, the day before the Rolling Road.
Cheers,
Ben
