Which Sub?

I own a MK3 Ibiza and I'm stuck with which sub to get in the back....
At the moment I've given myself two options

Alpine or JBL?

alpine are good for mid and high end but for sub i would go kicker or jl audio both produce deep smooth bass i`ve been putting ice in my cars since i passed my test in 94 i`ve tried them all i highly recomend these options i have 2 12inch jl`s in the car at the mo and they really are good hope this helps also a good mono block amp will do the world of good

i second kicker and JL (have a JL myself)...they're better subs if you're going for one single and not very expensive if you search around ;)

If you're short on space, the kicker stuff can work in really small enclosures - i've two of their 10s in my leon and they punch nicely :)

I had two 12' alpine type r's before they got stolen, very good subs! Then i had an audiobahn 15' flame q, amazing sub and well priced, if powered well it really kicks, never had it distort and it got alot of abuse!

JL does seem like a respectable brand.
Do you think ebay is a good place to buy them?

gonna through a spanner in the works and say i have a Vibe SLR 12"..and am very impressed with it

At the moment I am running two JL Audio W3 12" with a 500/1 amp. Sounds awesome, but if you are gonna get these do not put them in a ported box. The subs will peak to ealry and you get a very nasty noise coming out of them. I used to have a MTX 9500 which has always been in competition with the W7. It was really nice and very lousd but expect to be forking out more to change all the speakers in the car as the standard ones just wont handle the bass.

Personally I would choose JL over kicker and if your on a budget I would go for a similar sub with MTX as when played a normal volume it is not much difference compared to the JL subs until cranked to the top and you wont be able to hear yourself think.

i have a swr-1242d and its AMAZING but if i was you and if you can afford it go for the swx-1243d ITS A BEAST OF A SUB!!!!!!!

i got my jl subs in sextons they were doing bogof on the jl subs they sound out of this world with my choice of cd at the mo the chase and status album seriously pumps

alpine type X is an ultimate sub... 3000w peak 1200w rms... dual voice coil...its great.

got a 12" on my leon and its bass pounding,you need a good amp to power it and it sucks on your battery power like a V8 on petrol

if your not intending to spend much,jbl are good on a tight budget

diamond audio all the way in my opinion real good bass for the money, but back to you choices i second jbl's the 10" are real good if powered in pairs
