Thought I would share my thoughts about this unit even though I no longer own a Seat:(

I have just fitted a Tunit www.tunit.co.uk It cost me a hefty £470 all in, the reason I ended up with it was that the number of tunning options for my engine is still very limited. Altyhough this box gives the best power output I have seen.

190Bhp and 280lbft torque which is about the same as the 330d (184) but 150kgs lighter!!!

The fitting side was childs play, I simple removed the engine cover unclipped the ecu connection to the fuel rail and then pluged in the Tunit cable. The final wire I then connected to the Tunit. I then place the Tunit on the right hand side of the engine bay away from the engine as per the instructions. No adjustments are needed unless you get smoke or an ecu light on. This adjustment takes the form a jumper and seven pins that it can be place on. Left for less fuel right for more fuel. The unit can be tunned from a laptop as well.

Right the performance side...The car pulls off allot more cleanly with alot more power available lower down. Pulling onto a main road from a side road there was enough power to get my DSC to kick in for the first time!!

Mid range punch has increased as had responsivness. It does feel quicker but sadly a BMW is so refined that you loose allot of the sensation of power and speed:( Suppose I shall have top wait untill I get a car to challenge or try to stay with;)

Overall I would recomend the unit but I will give my final vote once I lived with it for a few weeeks and can properly asses the performance and fuel economy.

Congrats! :D

You could just do a RR session with & without the device connected. That would clear things up...

Excellent! Hope have fun with the new found power - I know I did (and still am!!)
I know what you mean when you say that the traction control kicks in when pulling out of junctions - mine's done it a few times now.

Diesel Car magazine did a test on a RR and got 154Bhp standard and 194 Bhp with the box fitted. I only have 900 miles on the clock so the engine is still running in. BMW suggest running it in until 1250 miles, but I cannot resist giving it the odd full throttle.:D

Jezzg,

Engines don't need running in any more. They are run in at the factory's before they are shipped for placement in the cars.

Gearbox's and so on need running in but after 200 miles they are usually run in. They use special coatings to cut it down.

So is the sensation better than a CUPRA now or not.??? I raced a 20VT the other day and in my first three gears it went head to head but after thet my TDI started pulling away. Just getting traction is a problem even with ESP.

The engines still need to bed in even after they are run at the factory, it just allows the parts to get a very fine shimmy and bed down. To be honest even my Cupra felt way better after 1000 miles and I expect the BMW to feel the same. Bot handbooks suggest the running in period of at least 1000 miles.

The BMW does not give anywhere near the sensation of the Cupra, mainly due to it being so refined. You cannot hear the engine unless you are really thrashing it. It does pull extremely hard now so I would expect it to easily be on par with the Cupra. All I can go by is that when I had a small blat with a Golf V6 4 motion when the car was in stock mode it kept up with it, but it never felt like you were flying along even though the Golf was going for it.

100mph in the BMW feels like about 70mph in the Cupra.

Nope I don't do magic mushrooms like you slimboy!!!

I know a 4 motion when I see one, maybe the twin exhaust and the 4 motion badge gave it away;)

Other wise like you I have been conned by a 1.6 again. As was not your last race a disguised milkfloat pretending to be a Williams Clio

Since fitting the tunit I have been having some problems with the transmission taking up the power. Basically I get slight noise just after the clutch is released and full power is given.

After phoneing Bromleys who make the Tunit they basically told me that because the engine is new and tight too much power was being realeased. I have been told to just take the power jumper down one notch untill the engine is a bit losens up a bit more. After that he said I should be able to take it possibly one notch above standard giving just over 200Bhp!!!

This still leaves me with another 3 notchs that I can go up by:D
