View Full Version : Induction Kits for Leon Cupra R
Are there any cold air induction kits that you know of which will fit the Leon Cupra R? If so I am thinking of paying you a visit to get one fitted.

Aha!
I wasn't aware one was availiable for the R yet, I thought it was still in testing. Where does it take the cold air from Bill?

Cold air can be from factory feed (behind headlamp?) or wherever you can stretch the 1mtr flexi to.

List Price is £171.99 + vat + delivery = £202 plus delivery
The £170 inc vat is already a discounted price.

How difficult/easy are these these to fit, Baring in mind i know very little
Cheers
You might like to give IP a call as they offer the ABD Racing kit for the Golf that also fits the Octavia and maybe the Cupra R. It seems to be one fo the best performing C.A.I's.
Chris
IP??
Meaning Impossible Performance maybe?
Came across this for the Golf on an American site while looking at induction kits. I am impressed with the design.

...and this on same site for TT, or maybe Cupra R??
Not sure that the heat shield would provide much protection from the hot underbonnet temps, but at least it utilises fresh air ducting from the oem intake

Dynatwist fitment is pretty straightforward... plenty of people have managed it.

I think I read that someone tried their CAI on a Leon-R and the twin intercooler setup got in the way of the inlet pipe. Anyone know about this?

Don't know about it, but i suppose a FMIC would ease that problem out of the equation.

Yes, they are the agents for ABD in the UK and are in Rochester,Kent. Its a good fit on the Octavia, the filter (K&N) is down behind the nearside headlight for cold air rather than in the engine bay and is connected via the ali inlet tube to the MAP.
Chris
Thought that's who you meant- not heard of them for a while on this site though. There was a time when they were numero uno!!:)

I don't know where an intake pipe could be fitted on the front of the R apart from where the oem one leads in. I've had a good look and I just can't see any space! There is that many things crammed into the front grill!!

They were very helpful and knowledgeable on fitting. Biggest problem is getting supply as they come through in twos and threes from the US and all get snapped up so if you want one best to order from Mike.
There were some measuremnts made of before and after on the Oct RS and it does add power and torque(+8-9 NM). Also be prepared for hiss and woosh noise when using moderate-large throttle openings.

Can't seem to find it on the site, only the short ram one with 'aggressive' (he he!) red bracket. Any links?

Just out of interest, the above kit fits the IV Golf (1.8T, VR6). Anyone any idea of wheather it could be fitted to the leon Cupra R then or is it a bigger maf housing like I suspect (although I think V6 4 motion is the same as it uses the same oem filter)

Airbox size and MAF are not related 100% like for like.
The airbox you have (size wise & filter wise) is across many VAG cars, from Octavia's to MKIV's to 20VT Leons to Leon-R's
I had heard/read that the ducting to the 2nd intercooler was what restricted the use of a CAI like Carboninion or Evoms... etc.

There are two inlet positions for the ABD Racing CAI. The one I have used for now is with the full length of ali tube with the K&N behind and below the N/S headlight. The main benefit for me eith this unit was this is the best position for ambient air inlet. I am not sure where the second IC ducting is on the Cupra R, I would have thought it would be lower in the N/S grille cavity. The second position is the so called "winter" as there is a shorter length of ali tubing provided so that the filter can be fitted inside the engine bay higher. This would not be so good for ambient air inlet intended for use in flood conditions, hope that helps.
So far I am pleased with the results and quality of the unit.
