View Full Version : Carpet Mats
Does anyone know how much do the dealers typically charge for the carpet mats for the Mk5?
Has anyone bought any of the mats available on eBay, if so are they a good fit?
Thanks for any help :)

premium ones are £55 and come with anchor points to stop them from slipping. I am going to get these when my ibiza arrives :)
As for the ebay ones, i havent seen them myself, but unless they are the proper seat ones i would touch them with a barge pole.

I ordered some ebay ones for my MK1 leon the other day. They're almost identical to the original Seat ones with the anchor points too. Only £20!
Might get some for the wifes new MK5
Hmmm... £55 from the dealer or £20 to £30 from eBay...
If it was my car, I'd probably go for the dealer mats (can't believe their not standard on the Mk5 Sport) but as it's the wife's car - it might have to be eBay!!
I ordered a set from cybrespares (not connected to them in anyway, just found them through Google, sorry cant post a link yet). I have only had them in week so no idea how good they will wear but they are a perfect fit for the car. Check which type of securing mechanism your car has though as mine had the round type and had to specify this on the order!
Rich.

neither did i just bought mine when i got the car m8[B)]:funk::funk:
Mats are not included with the new cars, though you'd think it would be for the price they charge for the car & it would cost them less than a tenner for the thousands they would buy.
i had the perma guard done on the car and the mats were in the price.

lol not sure about that :p
Can vouch for having seats and carpets sealed as a good idea if you have little fingers in the car. Especially the kind with half eaten sweets or spilt drinks.
Mind you someone the other day told me their seat treatment was the best because any liquids floated on top for couple of minutes giving you time to mop them up. How does that work in the outside lane of the M5? Do you unbelt and stretch to try to mop behind you with one hand while still stearing (shudder) - the mind boggles.
No wait I've got it! You keep the butler in the back with a pack of kitchen roll. Now where can I get kitchen roll...
the dealer through in ibiza mats for my mk5 for free :S
they were £39.99 , look pretty cool
anyone can post a link for orginal accessories online shop that can ship for entire Europe?
P.S. Looking for 17" SAGA rims... when I order the dealer told me - 400 pound/piece(1600 pound for 4)...so ,now I have 16"...
I got a set from ebay, they have the Seat logo and look spot on. The fit is fantastic and they have correct anchor points. £25 delivered.

my dealer has thrown the mats in for free for me.
I'm going to try and negotiate some mats...although having looked on e-bay the prices range from £12-40. As I'm looking at keeping my car a while I may opt for the genuine ones...although sis has said if they don't give them to me then i'll take the ones out of my part exchange car and use them in my new ibiza instead! Not sure they'd be an exact fit though.

First time I took my mats out to clean (about day 4) one of the plastic rings on the drivers side cracked, next time, on the passenger side, the ring stayed in place as the mat came out! Genuine Seat mats supplied foc by the dealer. Now where's that ebay link gone?
what is the difference between black premium carpet mats and black velpic carpet mats??

I think the premium ones are just better quality and longer lasting. Does where your looking not say what the difference is?

premium ones usually have a deeper pile so they feel softer underfoot, look deeper and darker, rather than the standard ones, which are usually a sheet of scratchy fibre-stuff stuck to the back of some rubber

that was the answer I was looking for I suppose. Thanks :)
edit: ok, understood premiums. what about velpics? what is the difference between them..?

I haven't the foggiest.
a qyuick google seems to show that the word Velpic is only ever used in conjuction with SEAT car mats.
I've got the Velpic ones (from a dealership), and they are very nice, deep enough to be classy, not too deep to be OTT. it's a SEAT not a Rolls Royce.
Im actually really impressed with them, over the past 2700 miles they've been pretty much used and abused and treated like a door mat and as such were looking shamefully grubby, but a couple of minutes going over them with a woefully underpowered petrol station hoover and they look good as new :)

I have rubber ones atm, will buy "velpic" ones later then :) thank you!
I think dealers should throw mats in free of charge for the price we pay for cars. Fortunately my Boca comes with them free :-)
