I recently put in an Alpine HU which I'm really happy with. Lovely sound!

Other than that, the speakers in my Cupra (non 'R') seem pretty good. I'm thinking of upgrading though.

I feel a sub would add the most at the moment.

But there are so many out there! What are the basic recommendations?

Do I really need a separate amp? Given that you can get powered subwoofer enclosures? The Alpine should still be pretty hot for powering the existing speakers, right?

In terms of space, I want something which isn't huge so I can just unplug and put in the house in the event of me needing to transport large amounts of stuff.

I appreciate this is pretty basic stuff, so if you have a link to an appropriate guide that would be awesome..

Thanks all.

you need to decide first of all what music you listen to to determine what kind of sub you want,ported/sealed enclosure

these will massively affect what you should buy
