Ello all,

Figured this forum was as good as any to ask about my particular query.

Basically, what I want to do, is have a guitar amp in my boot. Now, while I decide which of my old amps to carve up, I do have some questions:

My original thoughts were to see if it was possible to mount the amp head somewhere, or put it in a small enclosure of some sort, and mount the speaker to the boot floor, by replacing the carpet with some wood cut to shape, and sinking the speaker in the bottom. However, in the interests of keeping it simple, what I'm thinking of doing now, is just modifying the old amp's enclosure so it fits nicely in the back of the car. Nothing too permanent, nothing extensive, and probably the cheapest option. Only problem with that would be that one sharp turn and a box with a Celestion in it is going to fly around. Not good. Is there any method of fixing the amp down that's not too permanent, but strong enough?

Second is a power source. Ideally, I'd like to power the amp without too much electrical modding. I'd also like to power a small multi-effects pedal, which has an adapter and uses all of 5W. Now, my choices are between a 30W output and 80W output amp (though I'm probably gonna end up using the 30W amp, tbh). The 30W amp has a max power consumption of 60VA, which from my limited knowledge, in a DC circuit is 60W, but in an AC circuit would be less. The 80W amp has a power consumption of 120VA. Would an in-car cigarette lighter inverter do the job, or can someone suggest something else? Bear in mind I'd be running an extension cord with that (which I've got kicking around), as I'd need 2 plugs.

Finally, if I decide to make an enclosure for the amp myself, can anyone suggest a decent material to use, and where to get hold of some? :)

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Many thanks, guys.
