i have just purchased a new leon 20 vt pissed off to find out that there is no badge on the back, no mem on elec seats,no headphone sockets,no power point in boot, radio display on dash, what the f**k is going on a seat, leather elec memory seats are stated in the priceing options. which are not fitted, any thoughts on complaining to seat, maybe get some money refunded because of this f**k up. ??????????????
------------------
Same here. They seem to be cost cutting but not telling their dealers about the changes.

Hey guys...
This post doesn't sound too good.
I have been waiting weeks for my new Leon Cupra to arrive as my company car, and I still have to wait until "Mid July" as Hertz keep saying... I am/was really looking forward to getting this car since I test drove one, but now I am reading that there are various bits and pieces being cut....
Does anyone have a definitive list of what may be missing (Ie badge) or changes (Radio display) on my Leon when it eventually arrives?
That way I will make sure Hertz and the dealer sort these problems out before the car is delivered to me.
Cheers,
"Slightly less excited" Steve!
------------------
Well, from what we have heard already, you could expect to find the following missing (depending of course on what you were expecting).
1. Leccy Seats Memory
2. Radio Display on Dash
3. Cupra Badge
4. Head Phone Sockets
5. Passgenger Mirror Dip (When Reversing)
6. Boot Power Socket
7. Auto Dimming Mirror
8. Fold Away Mirrors
9. Rain Sensing Pack
10. ESP
Anymore anyone?

Thanks for the reply Cupraman.
I am not having the leather pack with the electric seats on my Leon anyway. The extra £1300 put the price of the car out of my range allowed for a company car.
As far as I am aware the Cupra I am getting doesn't have the following anyway:
ESP,
Headphone sockets,
Boot power socket,
Rain sensing wipers,
Passenger mirror dip when reversing.
I will make sure about the radio display and badge though and definitely the fold away mirrors.
Perhaps by the time the car arrives, I will just get the engine, body, wheels and steering wheel then.

Good Luck, Let us know how you get on http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

THE ELECTRIC SEAT MEMORY HAS BEEN DELETED IN ALL CARS WITH LEATER FROM WEEK 18 2001 DUE TO A CHANGE IN THE ALARM SOFTWARE.
MODELS WITH RAIN SENSOR, ESP ETC HAS NOT BEEN AVAILABLE THIS YEAR AT ALL.
ALL MODELS SHOULD NOW HAVE A CUPRA BADGE AS THE SPORT/CUPRA DIFFERENCE AS LAST YEAR IS NO LONGER SO.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CUPRA BADGE ON A NEW CAR THEN GET YOUR DEALER TO SUPPLY ONE.
ALSO ALL 2001 MODEL YEAR CARS NOW HAVE A SEAT SPORT EXHAUST.

Many thanks SWINNY.
What about the Radio display and electric mirror issues?
Are these all OK in the current production of Leon's? I certainly hope so! They were present on the car I test drove...
------------------
JUST CHECKED OUR DEMO - BOTH ITEMS STILL PRESENT.
DIPPING MIRROR NEEDS TO BE SET UP TO OPERATE.
------------------
Where is this headphone socket located?
If you order direct from the factory you can still specify ESP/rain sensor etc. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Is it true that the 2002 model car came out in May??? Might explain all the changes...
I picked up my New Leon Cupra on 30/6 (last Saturday)
It has got:
Fold Away Mirrors.
It hasn't got:
Radio Display, Headphone Socket or CUPRA Badge.
Hope this helps.

if u have bought a leon with leather seats and memory function is not there, complain to Seat directly as it is a failure of trading standards to specify memory seats in the brochure and then not supply them.
dealer did not know about it either

Hi again.
So if I go to the Seat dealer in Bristol to get a Cupra badge, am I likely to be charged for it?
Also, if the radio display doesn't work on the dash - where do we, as the consumer stand? Obviously the display is there for a reason, and if it doesn't work, can I get the dealer to correct it for me?
Stevo.
------------------
My dealer here in Coventry didn't suggest there would be any charge for the badge.
As to the Radio Display it's not a case of it not working, it's just not fitted at all.
My car is going back as the steering wheel isn't straight. It handles fine but it just bugs me having to hold the wheel with a little left lock when going in a straigt line. Also found a loose object under the bonnet that looks like a plastic cover for something.
But still, every time I drive the car I can't help but smile :-)

WITH REFERENCE TO MEMORY SEATS THERE IS A CLAUSE IN THE BROCHURE SAYING THAT THE SPECIFICATION CAN BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME.
ALL DEALERS WERE INFORMED OF THE CAHNGE BY SEAT UK.
THE HEADPHONE SOCKETS SHOULD BE FITTED IN THE REAR OF THE CENTRE CONSOLE.
ESP, RAIN SENSOR ETC IS NOW NO LONGER AVAILABLE UNLESS YOU CAN FIND A SECOND HAND ONE.

My demo Leon (cupra??)-built on 29/3/01 has sunroof, sat nav, rain sensor, electric seat pack (with memory),p/s dipping mirror,TCS(?) - not ESP(although invoice from SEAT UK states that ESP is ((should have been fitted!!))
Have been Dealer in Jersey(channel isles) since 1995 and now convinced that you never really know just what spec car u r gonna get 'till it turns up down the pier!
Luv the car-shame 'bout the way they are marketed/supported.Ordered the full body kit + the factory 17" alloys (as fitted to the Cupra V6 that i saw in Andorra) - should look the part i think(if it ever arrives! : ) )

And you got the car from SEAT UK? Check out my no sunroof thread, they told me no way. Looking at import or maybe an Audi now...

Yes our bronze cupra does indeed have a sunroof!Apparently it was a cancelled order(why i have NO idea!) and it was due to be built in March. We could not change the spec in any way-even colour which seemed crazy as the car was yet to be built!!Saying that though, the bronze paintwork does grow on ya(pig to keep clean though!
Sat nav is a tricky toy too- "fit" sounding lass talks you through to your destination & you have this little icon showing your position in the country you're in- i luv gadgets.
Sorry u couldn't get your sunroof-they are in my opinion worth having & its nonsense that the reason for deletion of this spec is because of the autoclima air/con-- real reason is that options added extra time to build allocation, its easier for the factory
just to have the basic car/base or metallic and leccy seat option.
------------------
you in here 2 huh ? lol
sat nav is cool , especially the 3D mode
oh by the way , ya havent got the screen transit cover for it still have you ?????? they only rest on th efront but i have a customer DESPERATE FOR ONE

Ci'ao - off for some more tax free ale !

Just picked up my Cupra (basic spec, no leather)
Has got the Cupra badge on the back and the foldaway mirrors plus climate control and cd autochanger. No radio display under instruments, Still not sure from the other itmes whether it should have

Swinny
How do you set up the Auto dipping passenger mirror then? Is it something a dealer can do?
------------------
I explained it in another post I think, but.
Start the car in Reverse with the mirror selector on the passengers side.
Turn Car off, turn mirrors to drivers side, stick in reverse and bobs your uncle.
I may be wrong though.

You can reset the milage too before it gets to 300. I think you have to start the car five times with your finger pressing the mileage reset button.
Do this before 300? or is it 150?

I'm about to purchase a brand new Leon 20VT. Taking a test car out for a drive for 24hours next Monday. I know Seat have dropped some items and lowered the price, and not made them available under options. So might get the SATNAV with spare cash, is it any good.

Swinny,
(Bit out of sync, but referring to your earlier post...)
Do you know the rough date when the dealers were informed (memory seats)?
Although I accept that some specification changes can be made under such a clause, surely that couldn't be applied here? (e.g., taking it to the extreme, if you ordered 'leather electric seats with memory', and what you actually got was cloth electric seats!?)
(In case you've not already guessed, I share Johnny Five's original concerns after receiving my new Cupra, and finding so much missing - the biggest frustration being forking out for the leather electric seats with memory, only to find that they're not! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif )

I'm currently looking for a new car and currently the Leon Cupra is top of the list.
I'm disappointed by Seat silently removing features though in recent months (ESP, leather memory, rain sensor etc etc).
Still, currently looking to organise a test drive although none of the local dealers seem to be able to provide a test car for a 12 or 24 hour test and can only manage a round the block type test - tsssk.
Options for buying seem to be :-
UK Seat dealer
autobytel.co.uk or similar (UK sourced cars)
Import broker
I'd prefer to put my business the way of a local Seat dealer but depends how much extra cash that will end up costing me!
Any experience out there as to how flexible Seat dealers are with offering deals ?
Ta,

I managed to get a 24 hour test of a Leon Cupra at SMC Windsor with no problem. They did give me a Y-reg with the added extras. I have now ordered a new Leon, but have been told that it will be without:-
Badge, Rain sensing wipers, boot power socket, rear headphone sockets.

in answer to your question yorkie
if u are after a leon cupra the i can tell u that the dealers pay £15315 for a leon cupra with leather and metalic paint u should be able to get one for £15400 with both options if u hagle hard.
get them to get u the badge and throw in a set of mats too.
£85 profit on a cash price is it worth it
good luck !!!!!!!!!!!
------------------
oh yeah smc windsor will definately do it for under £15500 as i got mine from them
thers a bloke called lloyde there speak to him.
------------------
johnny5 - thanks for the reply..
If dealers pay £15315 for cupra + leather/metallic then you must be hard bargaining champion of the year to walk away with a sub £15500 deal, how did you do it, electrodes attached to their privates ?
Are dealers really willing to accept such low profit margins ?
autobytel.co.uk are knocking them out for £15517 (leather+metallic) which I had thought would be out of Seat franchised dealer price range, maybe not then.....
Just need to practice the poker face negotiating skills http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Yorkie.
------------------
WAS THAT A UK SOURCED LEON FROM AUTOBYTEL I.E
3 YEARS WARRANTY AA ETC.
OR AN IMPORT IF ITS A IMPORT AND U DONT MIND WAITING GO TO VIRGIN CARS THINK ITS ABOUT 14500 WITH LEATHER AND MET PAINT.
BTW £15500 WAS WAT I PAID, WITH A 5 WEEK WAIT.
------------------
Johnny - autobytel are UK sourced cars *but* without the 2nd and 3rd years extended warranty (which is only avail. from franchised Seat dealers) - not a big deal as you can buy equivalent for about £270. They are *not* imports.
If I was to go down the import route then almost everybody is cheaper than virgin, for example http://www.seat-and-saab-imports.co.uk/ have leon cupras with leather/metallic/UK spec on order for £13,699.
Import would be my least preferred option though, hoping that a local Seat dealer can come up with the goods (obviously nowhere near the import prices though!) with a decent part-ex deal.
Yorkie.

No, No, No. I used Virgin Cars, and will not be using them again - if you want to know why, mail me off list!
