Hey Peeps,

After doing a boot build and fixing everything up ive got a drainage problem...

i.e driving steady at 30/40mph with the music up loudish and when the bass notes kick in it pulls my car back at each note..its taking power from my car's engine GDI !

Whats best to upgrade? Battery or Alternator? Or both of course but will one just work?
voltage drops down to ~12.3v on deep notes.

Thanks

Rich

Try it with your interior lights on, if they dim then come back up full, you need a power cap.
If they dim and stay dimmed then a bigger better battery/alternator is in order

yeh its still the standard battey, probs need invest in a bigger ampage one.

yeh interior light dims but this still dimmed when i had the power cap installed, got rid of the power cap though as heard they dont do much and i just did the big 3 instead,

not running stupid power atm... 1200watts rms mono amp and a 280watts rms 4 channel amp so wont need much of an upgrade.

Power Cap will make things worse.

What are you running? If its decent kit installed properly you shouldn't get issues like you're describing.

im running a single 12" Orion HCCA 12.4 sub powered by a JBL GTO1201.1
JBL 6x4's in rear JBL GTO6508C componants in front powered by JBL GTO504 4 channel amp and a 3 way active equalizer.

all installed by me so its a decent install....

think maybe my battery is slowly discharging as on idle it sits holds 13.8 volts where few months ago it holded 14.1 volts.
