I notice on the Jabba site they have a disclaimer saying ALL remaps, by that i assum they include APR and REVO are detectable through reading Flash memory, regardless of what mode ou have the software in.
Thats not really the way most people think!.
Opinions please.
even if it's encrypted...
'all' is rather a broad statement.
Jabba don't deal in Revo or APR AFAIK so maybe it is safer to assume that 'all' encompasses all of Jabba's remaps. Also, what is the definition of 'remap' as arguably Revo and APR are not remaps.
damn right - that & the illegal use of logo's on their site (copyright infringement)
wonder if taken to task over it they'd like to 'proove' this.

Did someone from Jabba do you a nasty turn in a former life?
nope, just been reading contracts all morning so have my 'read the small print' head on today
I think what they mean by reading the flash memory, is to read the whole thing.. not just to stick a Diagnostics pooter on it.. in which case it will show up EVERYTHING in memory.. therefore any remap, be it revo, APR or JABBA will show up..
granted.. its a slim to none chance that a insurance company will read off your ECU in an accident.. but they are just covering their a$$

Yes we all know a diagnostic maching the dealer use right now cant detect, but it has been widly touted that some maps are invisible, i.e. cannot be detected. Jabba are clearly suggesting that NONE are invisible, they are not just talking about there own products...

If a block D/L of the entire flash memory from the ECU can be done.. then it would be possible to detect a modifed ECU program. that goes for any remap/reflash/reprogram. even more so for swichable code like revo as it has a higher memory overhead.
on the REVO website, it just says that the insurance company may use a diagnostic computer, or open up the ECU.. in those cases, it would be invisible, as would Jabba.
Im not saying that any of this actually happens.. all im saying, is essentially what Jabba is saying is correct.

A remmaped/flashed ecu can surely be detected by experts, although not through standard diagnostic port equipement. ;)
Around here itīs a common practice to flash back the original ECU software whenever there are any possible warranty problems. Itīs just a matter of 5 mins or so, just flash it and go safe!

There's been a few threads recently on UK Mark IVs about this.

Some dealers reckon they can see even the evidence of the 5-hour free trials ... don't know if it's true but it is interesting.
