Thinking of getting a new Leon Cupra, question is which colour.....

The yellow is growing on me but I do like the blue that Zboyd has ---> http://www.seatcupra.net/images/zboyd/2f32a9d2.jpg or http://www.seatcupra.net/images/zboyd/d9c07d5c.jpg

Question is, which "blue" is this ? Imperial Blue metallic or something else ?

Yorkie.

Lee, nice motor but which colour is yours ? Looks completely different to Zboyds but is that just lighting conditions on the days the shots were taken ?

Or is yours the anthracite blue ?

Hi Yorkie

Mine is indeed Imperial Blue Metallic, its actually very similar in colour to the Imperial Blue they use to use on the Escort Cosworths.

I think its quite fetching, when i was deciding, it was either going to be Silver or Blue.

Lee's is Black, but it looks like an almost off colour Black sort of Charcoal, still nice.

Any dark colours though are a bitch for showing dirt, so you'll have to clean it often.

I used to own an Ibiza 16v in Copper, that was a really nice colour, and if at the time i bought my Leon it was available i think I may have gone for the Copper/Bronze again.

It is now available, worth having a look, i think the copper Leon is in one of the Alconbury pics somewhere may be wrong, but i'd have a look.

The blue does look awesome though when its nice and clean.

Yep it is but they have developed over the months, not from new.

Im always careful when cleaning it and i wax it with Zymol, which is one of the best products out there.

I think the paint finish though is generally disapointing, plenty of stone chips too http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif not a chance of getting it done though they will come up with some shite excuse for not doing it, that tends to be why warranties aint worth the paper their written on.

Im still going to mention it though.

At least you have the benefit of knowing there could be a problem, so you can be on the look out for it, most of us i think its probably too late to do anything about, like me my cars nearly 12months old. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif

It good to know im not the only one with dodgy paint, as for stone chips, mine had a few the day I picked it up, I was then charged £10 for a touch up stick!!!

The stone chips i've got are massive holes of missing paint, I never seen anything like it!

Really,Really wanted flash red but as soon as i saw the metallic bronze was happy.
will go for for red if the "cupra R" ever hits our shores(who knows bearing in mind SEAT UK's track record!)

I deliberated long & hard over the 'colour' & chose Flash Red. The black is dull, the silver makes it look like a toledo, the yellow is a resale no no, the blue is nasty, the bronze gastly & all the metalics look old before you even drive them away. nuf said.

Think the only thing you left out is the fact Red always goes pink in the sun ;p

Red has the worst colour fastness of any colour, but if you look after it an protect it with a good UV Blocking Wax it should last well.

If you look after Red it can look the bis for years. I use Turtlewax Colour Polish plus Gloss Guard selant once a month, works a treat

Agree with other comments though, paint seems to 'chip' easily. I've go about 10 'chips' after only 1500 miles, not too impressive.

Trouble is the envoronmental impact in the past few years has meant they need to use softer lead free paints.

Result being crappier finish and more stonechips. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif

Anyone noticed how crap the paint is at standing up to bird sh*t!!! My imperial blue Cupra got splatted last Friday afternoon and by Saturday morning when I washed it a large mark on the bonnet wont come off. KACK!

There is a protection product called 'jewelultra' that costs about £200 but is supposed to protect against bird c**p & fading. Has anyone used it. They have a website, check it out

You do need to wash it within a day I think to get the bird s##t not to stick or stain.
Guaranteed they say.
