Well, got the dreaded letter today from Huzzey's

As with the Scottish dealer mentioned on here a couple of weeks ago, Huzzeys will no longer be a SEAT franchise dealer from 1st October!

This is due "New block exemption regulations creted by the EU and SEAT Dealer agreements"

So, alas, Huzzeys are unable to finance this and so they will cease to be a SEAT dealer from the 1st.

Seventeen years they have been with SEAT, one of the first dealers in the country. They are EASILY the best dealer i've ever come across (not just SEAT- mind you with the exception of the old MK SEAT, they were leagues ahead of the other SEAT dealers) and in a conversaton to SEAT customer services a while back, they acknoweldged that Huzzeys were one of the very best dealers in the UK, so its a shame that SEAT couldnt help out with these changes as it was a great advertisement to SEAT. I lost count of the number of people who recommmended me to Huzzeys, 20-25 miles from Newbury and just 2 miles and 15 miles from another two dealers. That shows how good they are.

Big mistake SEAT UK, they were the one dealer out of FIVE I visited who restored confidence in the brand. I was disgusted by one other dealer and dissapointed by the other three. Unless someone appears that has the same C.S. as Huzzeys, then I'll probably by another VAG brand next year. I do 30k a year so I need to be able to depend on a dealer, a courtsey car and someone who follows up calls to see how things went.

Lastly, a big thanks to Richard and Angela Huzzey, the owners of the garage, Matt Stone, and Andy Reid, who are both excellent.

----

So I now have to find a new decent dealer. The local one, I wouldnt give my rubbish to, the two on the way to work I've always found poor, so looks like I'll have to try Spur, which are 20 odd miles from work.

I forgot to say, Huzzeys will still be operating as a car dealer in Newbury, so all the best to Richard everyone there. If you want decent customer service, then here's your garage

Good luck Richard

SEAT I'm not impressed!

Richard, you can count on my contiuned support (I now Im not the biggest spender) Mind you 3 cars ant bad in less than a yr! But when the cars need a proper service.... we will be booking them in with you..

VERY SAD DAY as far as I'm concerned. I just Hope that I dont have to have any warranty work done on the Alhambra, because SEAT will be in the public eye - Forcing me to travel beyond a reasonable distance to a respestable dealer - I have to agree with Andy B - living in Andover as well, those local to us will know the dealerships that we both have had some interesting conversations with!

Can I swear on here ? BlQQdy Hell this is cr@p still find it hard to belive that a manufacturer such as Seat wont help a dealership of Richards standing!

Once again, good luck Richard, I'll pop in for a coffee later.

well my car is out of warranty in November, although I want to keep it stamped up, I may take it to Huzzey's if they become a "seat specialist" as such.

Pass on my best wishes to Richard.

Not happy with SEAT UK! :scream:

I also got the letter this morning... I'm also disappointed that Huzzey's will no longer be a SEAT dealer.

I've only used them once for repair (dodgy boot struts) and they were very helpful and friendly.

I'm assuming I now have to take my car to another SEAT dealer for any work under warranty... anyone recommend a good SEAT dealer in the Newbury area?

Good luck to Huzzey's in the future!

I have actually figured it out....

There's a conspiracy to get rid of all the decent dealerships, hence that' why most of them give bad service (to keep the franchise)...

Hmmmmm....:(

That's such a pain!! I bought my SEAT knowing that I work 10 minutes walk from the Newbury dealer so courtesy car wouldn't be a problem.

My first service is due in a couple of weeks!! Does anyone know if the franchise will be handed over to another dealer in the area? There must be a requirement.

I know that Richard intends to remain as a SEAT Specialists offering the service that they have before. They just wont be able to offer warranty work :(

All the more reason to buy an import so that the warranty runs out sooner then you can go to a good independant specialist !!

Oh bugger, used them for servicing and warranty work for the last 2 years. Always had a great service from them.

well they will still be doing servicing and sales (including nearly new SEAT's) so I'll carry on using them as my warranty runs out shortly

Yeah I bought my R from Matt Stone at R Huzzey's. Great team there. Part of the deal (for the discount) was to take it there for all servicing. Done 8800 miles now so it's due for it's first one. If they are staying on as a SEAT specialist, does it matter if I take my car back to Newbury or do I have to go to a SEAT dealer then?

Cheers!

I spoke to them this morning, coz my car's due it's 10k service. They said to me that they can service it and the warranty would still be valid (something to do with changing laws regarding non-franchised dealers and warranties). Warranty work could not be carried out.

It was also mentioned that the car must be less than 2 years old (???).

Hope that helps.

when I spoke to them yesterday they were having a meeting to clarify this thing, so maybe thats been resolved?

Its only 2 years as the first two years is your "proper" SEAT warranty. The third year is a dealer warranty (ltd to 60k btw) and as they are not a franchise dealer are not part of that, hence 2yrs.

So, if that is the case, then I'm a happy chappy and I'll be able to continue to go to Richard

Am so gutted about them closing they were so good. Why can't they just make car prices similar across europe - why do we have to pay so much bl##dy tax.

I do have one question tho - if they are no longer with SEAT does this mean that the repair to the bodywork that they are doing on my car will still be under warranty? They had the car b4 Oct 1st but it won't be finished till next week - so will it technically be covered?

Does anyone recommend Gt Covert in N Baddesley, or Portsmouth as an alternative - i won't touch Salisbury/Wallops with a barge pole. Someone did say there was one in Basingstoke, but i don't know where?

actually our tax isnt too bad. Some countries like Denmark pay much more. It wasnt a tax thing anyway, when I bought my car (from Holland) it was cheaper before Tax there compared to Here by a long long way.

Shame they have gone. There is talk of a dealer in Basingstoke/Newbury area, but no news yet. In the meantime, Kings, Amethyst and SMC are probably your choices.

I live about 2 miles from Wallops, but my car isnt going there ever!
