Can anyone reassure me that i am doing the right thing in buying a leon cupra. I am due to take delivery in 4 weeks but some of you out there are a little disatisfied at the moment. (ie bad paint work and removal of certain parts). I would be grateful for your comments so to put my mind at ease.

Thanks

Andy

Well the paint work is definitely shite compared to a Toledo!
Dunno mate, it's a well impressive piece of kit for the money and spec, especially if you've bagged an import, but if I was you i'd cancel that order and get a black Civic Type R http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif If you can handle the looks...

erm, what can I say.

If you want a sporty car thats an absolute hoot to drive then you've got the right car. The parts that have been removed i.e. radio display on dash, seat memory, rear headphone sockets, folding mirrors, cupra badge etc are only cosmetic to be honest.

Mine seems to have an interesting mixture of these actually. I have no on dash display for the radio or headphone sockets but I do have memory seats and folding mirrors and a cupra badge. Bizarre.

I think SEAT are fitting whatever they feel like or have in stock at the time which is taking the p*ss...

Yeah but Max I can probably get an extra 5mph top speed with my folding wing mirrors http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif
To be honest I'm not sure why people are getting upset with no radio display, no badge, no rear headphones. Also I'd rather not have electric motors under my leather seats. We never use em and they just add to the weight!
Mind you I do like the folding mirrors and the passenger one that dips down to the kerb when you reverse! and you've got to get a decent alarm so you can close your windows at the touch of a button! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

I,ve had a lot of cars in my time: Audi Quattro, MR2, Golf GTI / VR6, Astra GTE, 5 & 21 Turbo & E30 M3 and must say the Leon Cupra has alittle of all these cars in them. It's a great combo of good (if not staggering until it's tuned) performance, fine/safe handling and luxury you could only find in a limo 5 years ago. As for the spec probs I agree that they are only cosmetic & only slightly dent what is already bril value for money. You could buy a Focus & be like every other company car driving **nker out there or you could just stick with something a little different (that's not a slow & rather ugly new alfa with crap performance & an overinflated price) Happy Days.....

20VT.

If you've got 2 people driving the car then the memory seats are just brill. Seat position and mirrors are done but you must buy another coded key i.e. not the cheapo spare that comes with the car. My other half used to share my Toledo before she got her Company Clio 172 and with me being 6ft1 and her being 5ft2 all you do is unlock the car, put the key in and it does the rest, seats mirrors and all.

Nuff said, haven't tried this on my Leon though so dont know if the system is the same.

Also 20VT, how can you be so sure about the Civic type R? I drove an Accord type R when I was looking around and was not impressed. You had to rev the nuts off it to get anywhere and in normal day to day use the Leon would blow it away. The only time an Accord type R would stay with a Leon would be down a dual carriageway in a straight head to head thrash.

You can actually total closure all the windows via the drivers door lock anyway when you get out, shame it doesnt work off the fob, but if you lock the door and keep the key turned in the lock for a sec all the windows will begin to wind up.

I've mentioned this to the guys that installed my aftermarket Alarm, a Clifford Concept 300, they think they can wire in the alarm to the relay for total closure of my Clifford fob which will be nice http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Max, both me and her are about 5ft 9 so we don't need seats with memory!!
I know what you mean about the VTech - I once test drove an Integra Type R and decided it wasn't my thing. The Civic is a lot more progressive and comfort orientated apparently and it only weighs 1200kg with 200bhp!!! Anyway it might be in addition to the Leon if the boss can be convinced http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif
Mark, did you know that you can fully OPEN the windows as well if you hold the key in the open position? I learnt this from my old VR6.
My Clifford 500 has been programmed to close all the windows and another button turns the headlights on! It works from about half a mile away as well! Coolio!

Incase your interested this also works when opening the car so if its a hot day you can open all the windows when you get in by holding the key in the onlock position for a couple of seconds.....
