Has anyone ever actually gotten their turbo cleaned & recalibrated.
Should it be done? Was talking to a couple of guys at a RR yesterday and was told that the turbo should be cleaned out about every 150000km. I've never had it done to any of mine, but I guess with residue buildups the turbo from the exhaust side it might not be producing as much boost as it should.

if the turbo lasts 150K miles. sould only need serviced when it actually starts to go wrong. like oil seals needing replaced

From what I understood it's not a complete overhaul. I think it's just some sort of cleaning & making sure it's putting out what it should. Costs around 300€ to do.

Take a look at the vag-com graphs here (sorry it's in Portugues):

http://www.tuningonlineforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4645

2- graph is of a friends car with close to 150000km on it.
3- graph of a car w/ 10000km on it

If you look at the 3rd graph you get spikes where the actual turbo boost is more than what's reqested by the ECU.
The 3nd graph looks like the one I did of my car. No real spike. Levels off towards the end.

Just asking cus my car should be doing somewhere around 19*+ hp but it's only doing 181.3.:(

I suspect thats 300 euros but then you still have to remove the turbo

never heard of this but any info' welcome, it's hard to believe that there is mutch benefit in cleaning, tho' i did once see a picture of a Porsche impeller which had been polished with power putty, pretty but of little benefit vis a vis cost.

The 300 is euros and is for the full service (including getting it out and sticking it back in). I have to try and get more info as to what's actually done. I know of a couple of shops in northern Portugal that do this as well as upgrading them. I would guess that the hybrid turbo's would be giving you a bit more boost.:D
