overboost ( i think) causing my car to go into LIMP MODE. its done it twice this weekend, once on saturday early morning, then again on monday (about the same time- 7.30/8 amish)
about 70mph on motorway,in 5th, footdown, boost gauge flies round and then backs right off and nothing, max boost is about 2-4psi, and the car is really slow. the boost gauge spikes at about 22psi (gulp) and the car has powerflow zorst system, and revo remap, with SPS2 box thing. (2002 ibiza Cupra)
What is doing this? is it the revo needing adjusting or something? i didnt have the car revod, it was done when i brought it (was bluebreezer20v from this forum)
Can i take it to a revo dealer and have it looked at under some type of warrenty?
Any advice/help would be cool.
Thanks

oh one other thing, the only way ive got it to come out of this limp mode is to disconnect the battery for 10mins or so, then reconnect it and leave the ignition on to re set the throttle body, it doesnt seem to reset its self at all.

i called up revo (thanks again saul) and i spoke to Richard, he was really helpfull, and freindly, just what you need when your stressed about your car F'in up everyother day!, anyway, we had a chat about possible causes, i thought i had a forge 006 DV, but after a bit of investigation i found i have a 007, so im gonna take it apart, give it a good clean and see if anything is dodgy with it.
just gonna grab a coffee and let the car cool down after me journey home (it was fine on the way home-typical!) then whip the DV off.

If you want to pop the car over to me sometime later on this week, I'll check what the REVO settings are on the car and do a fault check with VW Tools.

I'm out all Wednesday, call me Thursday morning.

No charge, REVO software is guaranteed. But a couple of questions, how long have you had the car and who did you buy it from? Reply by email if you want.

Cheers

Right, i went to see MikeP at Pragmatik ICT today, what a top bloke, thanks!
We (well he did lol) read my fault codes, seems ive got the classic coilpack failure, AND MAF failure together, yep, sounds just like my luck recently.
This would explain my dodgy car lately.

I called up my local 'ST'ealer just now when i got in and its booked in for it to be done next tuesday (over a week away), yeah, great, nice and soon then!

I would just like to add: This is not actually a REVO problem with my car, so for Mike at pragmatik to look at it and diagnose it for me is totally beond what he actually has to offer, the guys at revo were called up a couple of times aswell for a bit of advice, and again, its not an actual revo problem, so they didnt have to say jacksh1t!
Top Top Blokes, all of them, im a lot happier with my car again now, just need to get this warrenty work done and i can start modding again!....(after ive had the bonnet dent done:mad: lol)
Thanks again mike, ill keep you informed

Switch the car back to stock mode until the Seat dealer replaces the coilcaps and MAF sensor, a week is too long to wait, especially if the coilcaps cause more problems, it's not worth risking further damage.

Haha, mad! i thought i knew the name when you said it, and a CupraR would fit the bill, but didnt think much more of it! hope he is pleased!he kinda works at our place sometimes, im not sure how it works!?:p
ok, ill put it in stock mode first thing in the morning, ive had an evenings fun with it, thatll keep me interested for a while!
Thanks Mike

Thought id let you know, had the coil packs replaced and the car seems to pull a lot better now, but the boost seems still to be fluctuating a bit?? im not sure, ill keep with it for a week or so and see how it goes. it deffinatly feels fast though, well what wouldnt after driving round a 1.8 freelander for the last few days:mad:

Mark,

Good to hear the car feels better, but the fluctuating boost is a bit odd, give it a couple more days, if it doesn't clear up, come on over and I'll check the system for fault codes. If the MAF code has come back, we know what to do next.

Hi Mike.
It seems to happen (or at least be noticable)in only std mode, which is strange. But ill stick with it for a couple of weeks, and keep you informed.
Thanks again for your help
Mark:)

Hi Mike, i saw you were online so thought id put up a quick update...
The car has been on the 98RON SPS2 setting for about 1 and 1/2 weeks now, using optimax and still no sign of ANY problems, so all in all im pretty happy.
On 95RON SPS2 setting with standard 95RON fuel it was the same case, no faults!:D
One thing i have noticed though, since swapping to 98RON SPS2 setting and optimax, i seem to be getting a slightly improved average MPG, and although optimax is slightly more expensive, its unnoticable because of the fact im getting more miles for my money due to the higher MPG.the car feels more responsive too, wierd, but good!
Thanks Mike!

Hi Mark

That's great news, I'm glad the cars living up to your expectations.

It appears that Optimax pays for itself interms of smoothness and in some instances better mpg.

I'm going to try out some of that new extra whoosh diesel from BP at some stage and see if it makes any difference. Anyone out there tried it?

Stay in touch

Mike
