Ive been having a few problems with my revo'd beeza cupra goin into 'LIMP' mode, to the point where it seems to be doin it everytime i use it, so its back in standard mode untill Pragmatik can have a butchers' at it for me.
Now its in std mode, I noticed that the boost gauge ive got fitted is fluctuating a bit,the actual boost levels seem to be ok with the old posts ive read using the search function on this site (std mapping,007DV Powerflow Zorst- 7/8psi but spikes/peaks but doesnt ever hold at about 9/10psi) The problem is when boosting (foot flat down) it 'flikkers' 6psi,8psi,6psi,8psi,6psi,8psi etc etc, it seems to be at higher revs mainly but having a mcdonalds milkshake balanced in the glove box cup holder and going flat out didnt seem like a good idea so i cant say that for sure!lol
the car feels like its pulling well, despite this, although on my way home from work it felt like it was hesitating a bit while ragging it onto the motorway.
I have spent the last 2evenings (sad i know, but its really getting me down) trawling through old posts and it seems this has happened to other cars before, so thats one thing i suppose.
I have to components in my mind it could be, but i dont want to 'put words into peoples mouths' so ill hold back on what im thinking it could be and ill await your opinions! help me please, my faith in my ibiza is rapidly falling and it seems ive bought a totall shitter!
Sorry for the long post!

Hi

I know that as std there is a nice boost spike to give you that 'kick in the back' feeling that people want (YOU WILL WANT IT) from a turbo

std map is fairly cr*p though.

Some chips (APR or Revo I know) smooth this out - others (no finger pointing) emulate the std map & just make things worse.

Hi! yeah the spike isnt the problem to be honest, and i agree std map is turd compaired to the Revo (204bhp) that ive now got used to, but its still quick when you think im used to my 1.4 16v mk4 polo!hehe.
The probelm is this 'pulsing' of the boost (only noticable on the gauge, i havent noticed me feeling it) its wierd-and annoyin, and frustrating, and its getting me down..i wont go on, you get the picture!
Thanks for the reply tho dude.

ignore the gauge - they're poorly calibarated

although - do check where yours is connected - it might be on the brake servo line or something that does pulse.

Ah, im glad you brought that up. i have always wondered about calibration on them, but i always dismissed it thinking i was getting to geeky and petty. At work all our tooling/equipment is calibrated EVERY 6months with out fail, and youd be surprised how many items are out just after that short time, so a £80 analoge boost gauge isnt ever gonin to be spot on i suppose!
cheers again!

exactly

it's an indication, but not a measurement - you can monitor it on VAG-COM if you have it / have access to it

MikeP should be able to have a look for you if he knows his way around VAG-COM

Yeah i spoke to mike today, he seems a real decent bloke, so lets hope we can find the problem, he said he'll whack it on VAG com to see so fingers crossed eh!

sounds like boost surging! Some/Most people have had this problem and got rid of it by means of a new n75 Valve, might aswell upgrade it to the audi h/J version which should smooth things out and increase performance/boost slightly!

yeah i was thinking of doin that, but which would you suggest, H or J?
the car has a revo and powerflow zorst, so which would be best for me?
it seems its luck which works?!
Thanks

h has more of initial boost spike so more ooomph and j is more progressive and subtle

I had a problem with my Jabbasport remapped car which surged somtimes could not make up its mind, Mike at Jabbasport changed the remap slightly & tightened up the wastegate this made the problem loads better,Ithink its a quirke of the engine.

But is my understanding correct that they will both help hold boost higher up the rev range?
If so, ill get me a J i think!
