View Full Version : Nervous about REVO.....

After previously owning a Leon Cupra, that I had AmD remap for me, I'm very nervous about having my 225 R Revo'd once I've got it.
My reason being is that although I did give my previous, Leon a good going occasionally, I never once got anything more than 190 miles out of a tank of Optimax. It pulled like a train (226bhp - 255lbft), it did have a full Milltek system, including the downpipe. However I also had my fair share of issues, the power was spiking all over the place at first, it took Amd 4 attempts with the car to get on an even keel.
So I'm looking for some comfort from the guys that have a Revo'd R, I've looked at the website and I like the idea of being able to flick back and forth between tweeked and stock, but is it as simple as it suggests.
Fingers crossed!!!!

Never heard any complaints on REVO myself - think it's as good as a generic map gets for a car personally. Fuel returns on the R seem to be worse anyway (at least from what i'm told by owners both on here and at meets) but who cares? It'll go like stink. You'll be grinning like a madman!

I'll guarantee you'd be happy with a Revo'd Leon R, although we ourselves are yet to see the new 225 R!
As soon as they come available we will be getting one in here to get the code done, I suggest you try out the trial code when you have the car and we release relavent code.
If you have any questions or want to speak to us direct feel free to call us on 01327 301 901

Hi

I have had Revo software in my Leon 20VT for a few weeks now and I have been very impressed with the increased performance and seemingly no increase in fuel consumption at all - if anything its got better ! - easy 280-300 miles on a tank of 95 fuel.

Very impressed

Cheers

cant comment on a leon R, but the switching thing is usefull, and yes, it is as easy as just plugging it in and waiting for a few secs for the bleeps, thats it, unplug it and seat cant ever detect it hehehe:cheers:

Dont worry about Revo remaps. Not had a problem with mine and it was one of the first 210hp R's in the UK plus Revo did some of their "R" code developement work on it. 1 year on its running sweet as ever....

In short, top company and great product. (not that I'm biased at all ;) ) Car give 230 miles to a tank average and I dont hang about :D

The only thing I will say is that some of the cars develop a hesitation as mine did, I have SPS3 and altered the timing down (from 7 to 6) which helps but probably means I'm down on power ( Never used anything but superplus in the car). Bill (ibizacupra) who did the Revo is saying changing my Dump Valve may be necessary, overboosting caused by a slow DV I believe???.

The DV is £90 ish and not the end of the world but it's hassle.

Revo has made a huge difference to performance, giving a longer smoother rev.range and far more torque and top end. The experience has been bitter/sweet, the sweet bit in particular was staying glued to the bumper of an '02 plate BMW M5 on the motorway (80-120 ish) we had two goes and I stayed with him, he in turn was glued to the bumper of the Audi S6 infront.

MPG has improved to over 27mpg ave from below 24mpg.!

Steve

p.s. B4 I get bombarded with comments no i don't know what gear the M5 was in or if he was trying hard, I do know that he was driving with 'enthusiasm' and had been scrapping with the S6, he wasn't happy that a little Seat was on the bumper of his £50k motor.

Having had a conversation with Kev (Revo Kev) last Thursday, I'm now very comfortable with the idea. He said that they had Zboyd's car in at the time and had got far smoother code on the car now and any hesitation was sorted.... Anyone else got any news on this?? what figures did the car come up with.............

Excellent! , "new" smoother code I have had mine a month so no wonder it was out of date!;)

Yes can we have some comment from some Revo people if this is the case??

There is a new code for the Cupra R, I'm expecting to get it tomorrow, all my Cupra R customers will be offered the free upgrade.

RevoKev says the new code is 'awesome' compared to the old code, but all my customers thought the old code was brilliant! Kev is not known to overstate things, so it should be good.

Looking forward to doing the change and seeing the difference. Hey Pootle get back to me if you want the upgrade.

all i can say is REVO is the mutts nutts!! i had it on my ibiza 20vt and it pulled nice n hard and didnt really effect the MPG. I'll be going for REVO next time when i hopefully get a MK4 Golf GTTDi 150PD.

Last week we re-addressed the Seat Leon R and have made some minor alterations to the code. Although the power is similar there is a significant torque increase to around 300ftlb, and it is a much smoother code eliminating the slight hesitation that some people mentioned.

I will be announcing this in a specific thread later this afternoon.

Check out the 4th October Rolling road thread.
I think Zboyd got 252Bhp but post in that thread and I'm sure he will tell you.

Funny, mine put out exactly 252hp with the original Revo code last September. But only 265lb/ft of torque.... :)

254Bhp at Northampton Motorsport this weekend, with 274lbft of Torque in High Boost 5 : Timing 5 on the SPS3.

REVO earlier in the week while developing the new code got 265Bhp and 306lbft of torque on the RR at Stealth Racing, where i believe Max's was run too.

Should be getting the Stealth dynoplot in a few days from Kev.

I'll scan in my plot from Northampton Motorsport and bang it up in a bit if i get time today

was the newer and higher results with the same setting or was the high boost 6 in use - presuming you use optimax ?

edited to add ; make time and get it plotted - should have been done ages ago ;) :D

So many threads goin on with this info im sort of lost where im upto now :0

Basically as i understand it when it was run at Stealth it had the same SPS3 setup it had this weekend at Northampton.

those being high boost 5 and timing 5.

And on both occasions running Optimax.

Updated code for FREE upgrade is on its way.
Not arrived with me yet tho. (post eh  )

Some cars did it, some cars did'nt. Factory tolerances make for this variance including components like DV's etc...

Try the V2 code first... Chances are if like Z's motor, all will be rosey and oh so torquey! :D

Hi Bill

Followed your posting in the 'other place' with that total w**ker, how did you keep your cool? Drugs, meditation?

Deep deep respect for holding onto the plot, I lost it after the first page, how could someone not want to try such a simple solution?

I'm sure he runs the thing for his own personal benefit.

I may come to you for lessons in patience.

Cheers
Mike

aye.... as with most dyno's they are only relative to other similar spec cars on the day.
Best ones I've ever run on for repeatable & reliable results are Stealth and Jabbasportm, with Interpro being ok too.

Next RR I am at is Interpro near the end of the month, then TSR and Stealth again in November.
