myt grab myself a pair pretty cheap
i have them too, bought them for me old mk4 ibiza but took them off and now there on my cupra, plus now its lowered it looks the nuts.
has anyone put spacers on the front, just been looking at 10mm spacers for £36.99?
I hear spacers on the front will screw up the handling and give you uneven tyre wear not worth it IMO
I've got some Eibach 15mm spacers, longer wheel bolts and McGuard locking bolts all to go on the rear of my cupra this weekend (along with some other bits).... can't wait to get it all fitted and sorted now!
Is there any advantage with them?

Rear or front ones? I don't think many if not anyone with a mk4 has front ones for the reasons I said I guess and maybe more reasons. But the rears make the wheel look less lost in the arch obviously and make the car handle better but tbh I noticed no difference in handling!

Also got a set of these defo worth the money really does bring the rear wheels into the arches nicely

Mine should be arriving today for the FR I'm collecting tonight. That'll sort out the rear arches as it's on 40mm P.I. springs and looking good but just need the extra track .
I'll second your thoughts here Aimez. Also the fact that using ordinary spacers takes a fair amount of the load bearing away from the actual hub, possibly ending up in some drivetrain failure - Not Good [:@]!
Phil
P.S. Aimez, are you still at Awesome? If so, any chance of an extra-special deal on a Whiteline rear ARB for my mk4?
Sorry Aimez, I think I'm getting you confused with Awesome Sarah......doh!!
I'm a returning forum user from a year or two ago and just got a bit muddled?

So is it possible to put spacers on the front?
So is it possible to put spacers on the front?
I've never done it on my last 3 Ibizas or two Leons, and would advise against it.
BUT, I beieve it IS possible.
Personally, I'd only consider it if I were driving to/from a show, and not for everyday useage.

ok cheers
Just to add to what I said above.
I know from my Subaru days that some folk had to run spacers on the front to clear the Brembo calipers, but we're talking like 3mm, 5mm at the most.
I won't be using spacers with my wheels to clear big brakes when I put them on the FR, I'll get some wheels with the appropriate offset.

I have a set of these on the back of my FR, 20mm ones, and I think they transformed the cornering of mine. I haven't got mine lowered yet, but I have about 5 or 6 roundabouts on my way to and from work every day and I can tell you there is no comparison between the way it goes round them now and the way it did before.
As said above though, make sure you put copper grease in the middle where it goes over the centre of the hub or you'll need a hammer and chisel if you ever want to get them off.

The 15mm Delta Mics don't fit right on the Ibiza hubs, I've tried them and they won't sit flush, resulting in a fair bit of wheel wobble...awaiting my Forge 16mm's. I think my wheels are an odd offset, as anymore than this and there would be some serious catching.
I also have to run 3mm spacers on the front to clear my brakes. I have a set of 3mm shims, which fit snug on the hub/spigot, rather than the horrible universal ones which are a pain to get on.

So has anyone put 20mm spacers on the front?
borderboy

why not just buy wheels with the right offset ?
So has anyone put 20mm spacers on the front?
No one on the forum that anyone remembers has, for a reason, as stated above, they'll set your wear off and make the car not handle right!

Put my spacers on front and rear, have been driving all day and there are no problems

I would get your tracking checked if you're going to keep them on the front mate, so you don't wear tyres un-evenly.
Nath_123ni
09-11-2009, 16:46
y do that wen the spacers only r widing out they arnt creating any problems?
Chino_UK
09-11-2009, 16:47
Well, if you're pushing them further out, I'm guessing the geometry/camber etc will be knocked out slightly.

Ok ill get it checked but i don't think it will matter, Cheers

09-11-2009, 16:54
I may be wrong mate, but it's cheaper to pay £25 for a check than a new set of tyres :)

Yea thats true Chino cheers
Why have you put them on the front? People only put them on the rear cos they are a stupidly high offset standard and it looks daft, fronts look fine standard?
