View Full Version : Best Exhaust for Leon 20VT
there seems to be quite a few catback exhaust systems available for the leon as well as just back boxes.
my requirements (in no order) are quality, as little noise as possible, not too large tailpipes, and finally power.
i was initially going to get the oettinger back box. but for the same price you can get a milltek middle AND back box. surely this would yield more power, and milltek is a good brand
other systems have a pipe replacing the middle box... not sure if i like the idea of that.

Milltek stuff is usually pretty good. I suspect you could do a lot worse.....
The supersprint cat-back I have is manufactured to extremely high standards. Depends what look you are after really. The Milltek retains the twin pipe look of the original, while the Supersprint is a very nice oval.
The supersprint doesn't make much noise more than the original, not really a noticable difference inside the cabin.

Its a good item, makes the turbo a bit noisier, don't think it makes much of a difference on its own. I think it helps in conjunction with my other mods ie, induction kit, exhaust etc in the more air in and out school of thought. I think its one of the reasons my car can run such high boost too. (Peaking at over 22psi now).
Its available from Forge motorsport, if you click the link in my sig it will take you to the relevant page.
thanks for the info
i've been looking at getting a TIP for a while now, originally one supplied by RSD which metal and smaller. the samco one looks different from the rest. it seems to replace more than just the restrictive metal pipe leading up to the turbo, although it doesn't appear to have the small fixing bracket at the turbo end...
forge looks like they're short on supply of the samco one
Decided to go for the Milltek Jet catback exhaust. The Oettinger one was tempting but it's only a back box rather than the whole thing, but costs as much as the Milltek catback.
My Leon is on 104000 so I figured the whole system could do with a replacement. I'll let you know how it runs, it's being done 21/10 by AMD, they are in Bicester close to me in Oxford.

You can check out APR exhaust package for your Leon 20vt. I believe you can find a nearby distributor at Europe. You can check my web page at www.aprmexico.com or www.goapr.com the us page. At the us page you could find a dealer near you.
the milltek catback is being fitted as i write this... :D

How much did the whole system cost. I“m trying to find one for The Cupra R since APR doesn“t at the moment have one for the R.
£378 inc fitting and VAT
it's catback, not just back box

Are you also installing a downpipe, does milltek have it. If so how much did it cost you.
I think he's getting cat-back. ie pipe from cat and backbox only.
Milltek do make a downpipe and high-flow cat. Supersprint make one also. I am having the Supersprint downpipe and de-cat section fitted on Saturday:D
no i don't think i'll be getting downpipe/cat
maybe if i had a lcr...
well i've done about 100 miles with the milltek on. it's certainly louder than the standard. i was told to expect about a 10% increase in noise, but in reality it's more like 40-50% in the cabin, dunno about outside the car. it's a decent sound though, not like some max power mk2 golf parp.
it seems to rev freer and accelerates better above 4000, previously it was merely adequate.
it does look good. twin 70mm tailpipes look only slightly larger than standard.
TIP next... :)
