View Full Version : Seriously Fast Ibiza 20VT

Dropped by Star Performance on the way home from work tonight to see Jim about getting my car APR chipped. When I was in Jim asked me if I wanted a shot of an Ibiza he’d just been working on. I asked him “why?” “What had he done to it?” He said “just take it out for a spin and see what you think”. So always eager to have a go of a fast car I did.
Even when I got in the car i knew it was special. It had a full leather interior and was in Imperial Blue (was an import). Took it easy to begin with as my car is still standard and could tell even in reverse that this wasn’t. First straight piece of road and I went for it. It was lighting fast and so smooth. There was also no drop in power when it got past 4000 rpm (which I was looking for, having spoken to people with, and driven chipped Ibiza’s). I was very impressed. At one point I put the foot down in 5th and looked down to see it sitting well over 1*3*0 mph at only 5500rpm and still pulling like a train.
When I got back to Star I had the biggest smile on my face and asked Jim what had been done to it. He told me that it had a K04 turbo on it with an APR customised map. Along with the cat bypass and Miltek exhaust the car was putting out 230BHP and 245 lb/ft of torque. This was a seriously quick car. I asked Jim how much? Reckoning it would be really expensive. But turns out it can be done for £1800 all in.
Can’t wait to get my car chipped. But it will never be as quick as that one. Only time will tell if I can save up the pennies for a K04.
Cheers
Tom
:D
I don't have a 20VT but for £1800 don't Jabba give you more power with potential to go further too?

:)
K04 :laff:
IHI
:D
Fast?
:)
You can't get Jabba in Scotland - even Revo only has one place in Inverness!
Was that a customers car he let you go out in - pretty bad if it was, what if you crashed it? Anyway, sounds great, £1800 is a good price I think.
Bill, are you saying the K04 is pants compared to an IHI turbo?
Stage 1 ihi 270-280bhp, 270-280lbs ft torque. £1800 parts, remap £425, fitting £400. £2650ish for the above, so k04 is not really an option, all the extra power for another £800, ihi looks the better deal!!!!!:D
this is juts the tip of the iceberg i think, as with most things, the 1.8t is becoming more and more popular, there will no doubt be more upgrade kits available soon

yeah but £800 is alot to some people plusthe IHI will more than likely cost u more on insurance than the K04, more bits chopped and more difficult to repair/sort if things go wrong! probably harder to resell car too! so it soon adds up!
The positive thing with the K04 is that its bolt on! probably my next route if I decide i need more speed! Gotta draw the line somewhere! Its just so far away i cant see it :p :D
I know what your saying shock, £800 is a lot of money but it has (ihi) more scope for improvement, after 230-240bhp the K04 is finished. And once you start its hard to stop, how long would 230bhp keep you happy for???. And look at the cars coming out how long is a k04 equiped car going to stay competative for. Each to there own i just think a k04 upgrade would be false economy.
P.S Thanks Bill the Brembo's turned up First thing Friday morning :D .

What you will need to understand is mods to a car will likely devalue the car unless its a proven package etc... that people want.
K04 gets you so far, and is worth asking the question is it far enough for the outlay? Personal decision.
anyways..... wait a wee while longer and see how REVO's Ibiza gets on with its new turbo as you may well be better served by that than a K04 alone. IHI is top end power @ top end price, but we may have a new player in our midst shortly.

I spoke to Revo a while back about a turbo upgrade which they said would be released in the new year. Any ideas what turbo it is? Cause TBH I wouldlike a bolt on solution as the K04 rather than chopping/changing the engine bay
Tell me more about this Revo kit.... this is the first I've heard about it.
Are they looking at serious power (300+bhp)?
Any details?

Not a competitor to the IHI kit no.
But something in between K03 and IHI, but more than K04
I am guessing 250-260bhp?

We have a kit under developement on our Ibiza at the moment. It won't be a big power IHI competitor, yet will be a KO4 equivalent upgrade ie: bolt-on. It's in early stages of tuning although it's showing promise. Details will be released when we are further along tuning it!
Will there be an offering for the Leon R?

So wait before upgrading to the k04 then! One quick Q kev? Will existing Revo customers have to pay for a re-flash for new software or just an upgrade fee? As the main thing thats stopping me now with K04 is that a re-chip is required!
Any1 got any incline to what this is???? Sneak Preview??
Thanks
Mike
260bhp from Revo/turbo upgrade any idea on prices???????.
Look what a feeding frenzy has been stired up now!:)
I got hold of a K04 and there isn't anyway it's bolt on to an Ibiza, so I double checked and Jabba said they could do it for me but it would need loads of custom work both sides of the turbo ie manifold and downpipe. IHI is actually easier to fit as you can buy it as a kit. A K04 looks very different, inlet and exhaust wise to the K03 so it ain't as easy as all that, thats for certain.
Boyd
REVO arent using a K-04 tho ;)
theres various different K-04 variants, and only one will "fit" the ibiza, i think Sim looiked into this a while back.
keep yer eyes peeled :)

Revo said on another post that it used standard oe manifold and downpipe! Also they usually attend all seatcupra.net events and take the car! So that was a hint1 every1 pile to the next event to get a squizz!!!! :D
i dunno if he calls him self this on SCN BUT 'Redman' (conrad for those who know him) put a k04 on his Ibiza cupraR and nothing was 'bolt on' as far as im aware, he had lots of things to fabricate etc (lucky he is a welder!)

there are atleast 5 types of K04 I know of! I have looked into this quite a bit and the K04-01 is a bolt on in all aspects (jabba use this). This is a different K04 to the LCR/S3 etc
If we're talking about faaaast Ibiza, then this must be a one: http://flight.arctecho.com/~penaaz/sell/ ...and also forsale

cheers for that john.
Question is.. and the piccy does'nt really show me, is there more space behind that mesh for a large FMIC.
Big gaping hole but is it deeper?
Hmmmm.
wonders.
The pic shown ealrier in the thread with the FMIC is of a member on here 'penaaz' or something like that I think - Greek or Israeli?
