I knew that would get everyone attention.:p

No I haven't done it, but with the nice cool & some wet days as o late, certainly make it feel that way. I'm quite surprised how much faster the car is, now that we're getting 14 - 20ºC temps outside.

I'm definitely gonna have to do the IC "thingy". I'm looking for opinions. Should I upgrade the FMIC for something bigger or should I go for a Chargecooler. Maybe I should just try getting a water spray system. Help me decide what to get.

Well I've been to Stockholm, Sweden one summer and it was certainly over 15oC then ! ;-)

I think charge cooler will do the job. Won't get any water into the engine. Or fit a Cupra R bumper with the bigger grill at the front, that should improve the cooling. All the Jap cars have it that way.

Your money but i am just not sure you will get much improvment from the IC. The main reason you are getting better performance in not because of the inlet temps but in cooler weather theair is more dense. i.e. more oxygen therefor more power. Think of it like a poor mans nitros..lolss

The IC will be an expensive way to make you car go slower (extra weight)

Put the £1000 towards a 330d and get it remapped. nice
:D

Paulo,

Has the Toledo 150Tdi got the big FMIC like the Golfs? if so why are you thinking of upgrading it?

Since I'll have the car for at least 3 more years, I will deffo do the upgrade (it's the company show car). It will definitely not give as much of an improvement as the chipping did, but should improve or at least maintain hp longer.

Since Portugal is very hot during summer months (most days over 30ºC)I'm not sure if it's not better to upgrade to the charge cooler as it is more efficent.

the golf & leon/toledo are exactly the same.Yep it's got the big FMIC, but I'm looking for something better. The performance drop during summer months is pretty big.

Debating if the charge cooler might be a better option for the >30ºC weather.

Whilst at a friends house I spotted in the November edition of Max Power, page 88 a kit made by the Wizards of NOS.
Its basically similar parts to a simple nitrous kit, but heres where the fun starts! the cylinder is filled with C02.

You fit jets angled across the intercooler so when you need extra cooling, press the button and you get a good burst of C02. Its good to reduce the temperature of the air passing through the intercooler by 35 - 40 degrees C. More efficient than a water jet. Only it costs £410

Found this the other day funnily enough on Rally Nuts.

The IC water sprays look pretty good and are rather cheap compared to a new bigger FMIC. Will probably try this 1st (hell even SAAB use it on some production cars).:D :D

Cryogenic - reminds me of frozen dead people!:( :(

The standard IC on the TDI150 is so good and efficient (87%) that I´ll doubt that you can improve it in any significant way. The TDI130 IC is a whole different matter.
The IC water spray system is a good idea though. ;)
