Has anyone fitted the ABD Turbo inlet pipe and/or lower intercooler pipe?

Would i notice any diffrence if I fitted these to my cupra?

i'm very interested in a replacement TIP too.
RSD do one, so does samco

From what I've read over in the vortex forums, you don't seem to gain any HP. What you do get is a bit less lag. The OE unit does look very restrictive.

The Neuspeed/ABD etc TIPs are only the little metal end piece. The Samco one is the full length MAF->Turbo pipe, much better bet IMHO.

Just reread the thread..The bit I was talking about is the lower IC pipe.
You should do a search as there was someone on here that had already tested the upper SAMCO one. Actually, wasn't it you Chris?

Supposed to free up top end of rev range because of much better air mass flow at higher revs, and a marginal bhp gain.

Neither Forge or Awesome seem to have the Samco ones in stock for a while yet, 8-10 weeks aparently

cheers for the pics
how did you attach it to the turbo?
the original tip has a little bracket that looks like it bolts onto the turbo

The original end piece has a little bracket and a single screw that holds it on. The Samco TIP is a (VERY) tight fit over the turbo intake and is secured with a jubilee clip. It forms a much better seal than the original IMHO.

Whereabouts in Oxford are you from by the way? I grew up in Abingdon and lived there till last year. Still go back a lot, my family are still there... I'll keep an eye out for you:)

Thats really freaky..... I work in Winchester too!!!! (At the Royal Hampshire County Hospital)
Used to live just off the Radley road in north Abingdon..
Don't worry about your engine code the Samco TIP will fit. All the Leon (non-R) turbos have the same inlet. Forge might say AUQ only because thats the only one its been put on so far, ie Me...

Fitted the ABD intake while i was still standard (not chipped)

No power gains or losses.
It did rev more freely though.

Oh and there was an audibul difference in turbo whistle :D

Its meant to help more when running higher boost eg chipped.

Comparing them to the standard pipe the restriction are obvious. the std one looks badly squashed.

i read that you need a 1mm larger one if you have a K04, the normal one works fine with K03

is this K03 refering to the turbo? how do i know what turbo i have in my leon?

AmD are close to you in Bicester, i'm sure they'd fit it for you, alternatively, AutoTecknik in southampton will.
Failing that, get yourself some axle stands, a socket set and some plasters like i did:D

yeah AmD did my exhaust

thought it might not be a good idea to have it fitted at a place that doesn't supply them. i do know they do other samco hoses.
