I've a 97 Toledo Sport and just recently the ABS light will come on during driving and stay on until I restart the engine when it'll go off for a while before coming back on?

I've just changed the brake pads but didn't do the discs because they looked fine - anyone got any ideas??

absalutley none, but you are not alone, mine does it on occassion(cordoba).
takes alot longer to do if i've had the jet washer round it,so my betting is its crap on the sensor:cheers:

I've got exactly the same problem on mine too :(
Doing my head in! If it was on all the time, I would take it to the dealers, but everytime I think of it, it goes off.

I learnt a little trick today to find out if the sensor may need re-aligned. Turn the engine on and wait until the ABS light comes on then put a knife (or something with similar thickness) between your brake pad & disc and see if the light goes off.

Remember to check that your pads aren't completely worn though and your sensor is clean.

By doing this I found out that my sensor was a bit screwed but the local mechanic (well grease monkey) at Kwik-Fit managed to re-align it and now I've no problems with the light.

Just need to keep my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again!!
