Hi,

Next year I will give my Leon a little bit more power. I am thinking to buy a ATP Stage III Turbo Kit.

Have somebody already this kit fitted or do you have any experience on this kit?

Thanks

Go for the Gen II-kit with manifold. The Garrett GT30R used in the Stage III-kit will have to much lag.

The Stage II will spool-up faster having full boost at 3500 and well alive at 3000 rpm's.

Tweak it well and you should get a very driveable 240whp...

Hi,

Have you any estimation of the cost for your kit? I mean final cost (shipping included).

The ECU chip was as per ATPs kit or you have modified?

Last your Car has AUQ engine code? and ECU type?

Thanks,

whats included in the kit?

I take it its going to be from Awesome GTI? Is it the same one thats on there old Mk4 Golf?

Looking at the moment for a replacement for my KO3 on my engine (AUQ) even though its not yet in the car.

Was thinking about just upgrading to the KO4 turbo and manifold for the TT/S3 etc.

What Turbo is everyone else running? what do you guys think is best? Would like around 250BHP at the wheels as I think its pretty much all the syncro system will take before it destructs itself

Thank, but I will over 300 HP. I was looking at DigiTec turbo kit. They offer 320 HP, but the price is twice of ATP kit. But, they have many more thinks included in their kit.

I also have the idea to buy LSD for my Leon. Can someone tell me, if there is a difference in 0-60 and 1/4 mille time if using LSD? I am looking to buy a Quaife LSD.

The Quaife is not actually an LSD, its an ATB Diff (Active Torque Biasing Differential). It pretty much does the same job but doesn't use plates, and therefore doesn't wear out like LSDs do.

As for 0-60 and 1/4 times... well a Quaife doesn't improve the time in theory but it does allow you to achieve better results in practice.

Or to put it another way, you still have the same power, the same contact area (Tyres), same weight and same gear ratios, so the theoretical best possible 0-60 and 1/4 mile times remains the same... HOWEVER in the real world you are unlikely to get very close to the theoretical best times due to things such as the tyres don't break traction at exactly the same time, and when a tyre breaks traction the diff gives a majority of its power to that wheel (Path of least resistance) and so the power is wasted. With a Quaife the opposite happens... if one wheel breaks traction then the majority of the power is given to the other wheel, thereby not wasting the power.

So for example, your cars best theoretical 0-60 time may be 7 second in a simulation, but in practice you may never get better than 7.5 seconds in the real world, but with a Quaife you may manage to get say 7.2 seconds. So, yes... a Quaige could help you get better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Cheers

Quaife do plate type diffs also.

ATB is the road going version for practicle purposes and from personal experience in using them for some years, they should be fitted to all powerful FWD cars. :)

Off the line traction is marginally better for 0-60 dashes, but not a lot. (just 2 even black tyre strips, not one :p) Corner speed and traction is where its really working for you.

ATB diff only works as a torque biasing one, whilst both driven wheels are in contact with the ground. Plate diffs will lock both wheels be they loaded or not.

I luv the ATB diff personally.
Just wish the rest of the VW based box worked as well!

Thanks both of you for your answer.
