Hi everyone, new on here and this is my first post. Just to say it looks a great site with lots of info. and people willing to help:)

I'm looking for a bit of reassurance here regarding the purchase of a Toledo TDI S 110. Its a 2000 model with 87k on the clock, one lease owner and FSH print out.

We originally wanted to buy an Audi A4 because of build quality and the virtues of the 110bhp engine but came across the above Toledo instead and because it was about £1000 cheaper than a comparable A4, we looked at it, liked it, drove it and loved it!!

So, now we've put a small deposit on the Toledo but now I've got home am having second thoughts.

Why?? Theres not many around, seemingly no independent specialists, main dealer miles and miles away. I know the Seat shares VW parts but am wondering how many are effectively VW instead of specialist Seat. Obviously the engine is the Audi/VW lump, but what of the other running gear? It apppears a bit of an obscure car!

We love the looks and the way it drives but are worried about big bills if it goes wrong due to Seat exclusive bits.

Have we made a wise choice? What do you reckon?

Any advice much appreciated

Matt

if anything the parts compared to other franchises are cheap as chips

nearly ford money most of em

and IF a part is group shared - the part numbers are the same anyway ;)

good choice m8

most of the bit's i've ever checked have been mkIV golf parts, so worry not.

obviously body panels are different, but it's *almost* a repanelled golf

all VW indy's will know what a SEAT is - so cheap labour a plenty there.

I wouldn't worry at all - I'm not, and I'm a Toledo owner. The platform is shared with the VW Golf/Bora and Skoda Octavia to name but a few. The parts are common across the group - they are even stamped with VW/Audi symbols on the car. The same diagnosis machine is used during servicing - your local VW dealer might even agree to service it if the SEAT dealer is too far away.

Well thanks for the replies, I feel much better now! :) :)

Really looking forward to having the car in 10 days time.

BTW I don't know if anyone is aware, but Damon Hill & Co are opening up a Seat Dealership in Bristol in about 3 months time. They already have snapped up the main VW operation in the city and the new one will be close by in Brislington (or so I'm told) Being near Bristol, I think the closest to us is Holders in Congresbury.

Thanks for the info. so far

Cheers
