Hi...well i've been waiting 2 months for my seat leon 1.8 20v SE to be built and delivered to me...and today i got a fone call from the importer...
"hi...i've got good news and bad news...good news is we've got your car ready to be delivered....bad news is...it's got the wrong engine in it...."
"Oh....what did they put in? a 1.6?"
"Errr...no....a 1.9 TDI!!!"

well i guess i've been waiting a while for my car...so i though..."F*&k it....might as well have a TDi" although i am having to pay an extra £400 for it.

Can't wait to start driving my car around!!! :)

I have to say the TDi was better than the 1.8SE I drove, with the exception of low speed noise.

Thats the second Leon, thats been messed up, how many more that we dont know about.

Who was the importer btw?

Hello Snoop (did we talk about mporting a Leon on the Evo forum a while back, or am I just getting old and mixed up?)

Don't be dissapointed! Better car IMHO, more tunable if you decide it hasn't enough go, and an extra £400? PAH! You'll recover that in about 4 months!

PS ~ as Andyb said - that's two pretty major f-ups regarding model now that have been discussed on this BBS. I wonder how often this happens......... ?????

So there's you and Lee (Ovniyellow); how many others are there out there that have been offered cars built to the wrong spec, that don't come into the NG? Bloody awful quality control.

Where are Leons built? I saw some discussion about this a while ago and I think there was some controversy surrounding locations. Any ideas people?

They used to be built alongside the Golf in Belgium and Germany, but since mid last year all SEAT cars have been built at the main factory in Spain.

The only exception to the rule is the Albammas ;) They are built in Portugal.

Thanks Mark. Any known differences in quality (apart from an inability to put the right engine in the right car)? Mine seems very well made - built Summer 2001, so I guess a Spanish one.

Thats a real turn up for the books!:)

I would def have a TDI over the 1.8 20v!

I can't believe that they want you to pay the extra £400, it should be them paying you, whether you now prefer the TDi or not.

I am curious whether this is a mistake or maybe it is just convenient that a TDi is available. :(

I agree with Brian; doesn't matter that it's a better car in some people's opinions, it's not what you ordered!

It's another nail in the coffin of importing for me. It really doesn't seem worth the hassles I've read about in here. I've always bought from UK dealers and I see no reason to change. My time and sanity's worth more to me than saving a few £.

Hi

I'm Vince Saiya from Stealth Racing,

Over the past couple of month's we have fitted cruise control to a number of cars. Primarily the reason for this was to enable program switching for the APR chips who we are dealers for.

The cruise control system is quite simple, not really rocket science, we use factory stalks and we make the wiring looms on site, fitment cost £175 + vat.

The car does not necessarily need to be a 1.8Turbo as earlier today we fitted cruise to a 4 Motion V6. And I've heard of TDi's been done too.

We have found that some cars do have partial wiring for cruise already in place but not all, which ever car you may have we generally fit our manufactured loom.

Hope this answers your questions, please feel free to email me if you have any more.

Regards

Flapper

Are the Leon 1.6 16v & ibiza 1.4 chill drive by wire?

If they are, do you have access to to wiring diagrams?
If Cruise is possible it may have a different activation code? Maybe?

Hi Bill

Funnily enough, I was thinking about you the other day, somebody else mentioned your name, can't remeber why though or even who for that matter.

Did you ever get your 16V Turbo done?

Mentioned my name... Eww.. Hopefully in a nice context :D

Guess what is being built now.. its finally going ahead and going into a Scirocco Mk2.
I have adapted the Turbo Technics manifold to take a T3 as I want some serious power beyond the 220 mark the T25 can give. I am going to use my throttle bodies in conjunction with the new P8Pro DTA ecu also, so I can utilise all the bells and whistles it has. (anti lag, launch control, 8 injectors (or more), traction control yada yada yada - you know the score)
I have been messed around on pistons for quite a while and am now going for some JE ones.
Scotty sold his Mk2 1.8T then....

all the best
regards
Bill

Yeah it was in a nice context, it was to do with the hassles you had with your Ibiza.

We use JE without a doubt the best turbo pistons

Scott called me and told me he was selling, don't know what he has got now though

Ah Vince, I called you guys not so long ago when I first heard of the APR method of tuning (local to me). I must say you were very helpful and if I do decide to go ahead with any mods of this nature then I will be alone to see you.
