Hi,

Just ordered a brand spanking new 130PD SE with swivelling seats and in-dash CD changer! Been researching things for a few days and ended up ordering from micronet showrooms. The price: £18,600 inc VAT and delivery to the door!

I hope I've done the right thing!? I know micronetshowrooms.com have had a bit of bad press on these forums, and I questioned them about that and was told the issues were mostly with Cupra imports taking too long. I was assured that their cars are now all UK sourced, factory ordered for the UK market and thaat the PDI check and supplying dealer stamp will be from a UK dealer, so three year warranty etc will all be valid.

Sounded pretty good to me - list price for what I wanted was about £21,705.

Can't wait to get it now! 4 - 6 weeks delivery quoted, I'll keep this thread up to date with how micronet showrooms perform.

I feel very guilty again though - I've done this twice now; test drove a new Seat at Castlegate (my local dealer) and then bought elsewhere  Last time round it was a Leon, which I ended up importing, this time I cheerily said 'Won't be importing this time as it's too expensive now' to try and make good, not realising there were such good deals to be had on UK sourced new nowadays!

Thing is, they can't get near the price, and although they're very nice and will get my servicing work, I'm not spending more than I have to on the new Alhambra.

My wife and I were going to get a lease Galaxy through her work scheme, but with the government's BIK Carbon Tax increasing over the next three years it works out cheaper, ownership wise, to borrow the money at 4.6%APR and buy an Alhambra outright, even with depreciation & interest I think it worked out around £240 cost to own per month! (betting on around £1500 per year depreciation from the purchase price of £18,600).

Can't wait to get it!! Will definitely be going on a driving holiday to Europe next summer, maybe Germany and Poland....

Hi,

Their website is www.micronetshowroom.com or .co.uk (both work)

I have been through their contract pretty carefully and there's nothing onerous about it. They simply act as agents to a UK SEAT dealer that seem to just want to shift cars for minimal profit. They have an online quoting system.

Good luck with it! I'll post how my purchase goes here, I expect the car within the next month or so.

;)

had a look on the site which seems very reasonable but they do not list extras like the seats/leather or trim options or colour listing and their premiums!

also you dont have to pay VAT/Tax right??

shirudell

All the UK specifications are listed (there's a menu near the top running from left to right once you've selected your car, have a closer look) If there is an option is shown as an un-ticked box, and mostly its accurate with what choices you have and their costs (all under SEAT list price).

You have to pay the VAT, the prices quoted include VAT, registration, 1 years road tax and delivery to your house in the UK. (I would recommend you email them or telephone them for an accurate quote as I too found their website a little difficult, but essentially it is accurate).

The price I'm paying for my Alhambra includes VAT, registration, plates, 12 months road tax and home delivery. I paid a £1000 deposit by credit card so I'm safe, and will be paying the balance to the delivery person, (by bankers draft), once I have inspected the new car, so I'm pretty confident I'm safe and secure money-wise.

I have said to them I will be posting about the purchase here, as I know in the past they had some bad press due to imports taking too long, and if everything goes smoothly then this is a really good place to buy from.

The Alhambra I've ordered is definitely UK sourced, full UK SE spec and PDI checked and stamped by a UK SEAT dealer in the Nottingham area.

A 150 PD would be fantastic! I've driven both the 115 and the 130 PD versions, the torque is the same for both (310Nm), but the 130 is a little bit more economical, and Iguess has a little extra punch.

They both pull like traction engines anyway - which is what counts!

Agreed here//// I have to say I do wish that Seat would offer a 4x4 tdi 130/150 pd version - I for one would seriously think about p/exchanging my 115pd (fab waggon)for one of these.. I have so say that the `se` trim spec has better spring/shock setup - Sometimes find that mine leans a bit to much. Adjust driving from lowered Leon to higher Bammer, & bingo sorted (well you cant go racing when you got the 4 kids on board!!)

Now to check out this web site of yours (shirudell)

www.micronetshowroom.com or .co.uk Maybe worth considering for the time when either cars need replacing - Seeing as I have lost my trusted local Seat Dealer....

David,

At these prices i would be very keen to find out how you get on. The saving are almost to good to be true, my local dealer is selling 12 month old ones for more.

Good Luck, keep us posted

Cheers

Yep, I know what you mean. I am making sure that any money is parted with securely (Credit cards etc, bankers draft after inspection).

To be fair though, I think the dealers find these cars sell well so don't need to discount, whereas I was immediately offered £2,700 off list for a new Ford Galazy Ghia 130pd (Less equipment than the ALhambra SE). My local dealership also selling ex-demonstrators for more money!

The saving I will make is about £2,700, and I suppose the supplying dealer gets a trouble-free no-comeback sale which boosts their ratings with SEAT UK, helps meet targets etc. I think they get cash incentives for achieving certain sales levels so it would make sense to shift a certain percentage of cars at low margin like this if the opportunity arises and if it's on top of usual dealer sales.

We'll wait and see how it all works out! I will keep this thread updated with the progress.

So far so good still. I got my confirmation and Pro Forma invoice for my new Alhambra through on Thursday. Delivery date to dealership 19th December!!!

I'm going to hang off for the delivery though, best to register it in the New year, and Micronet have said that is fine, and despite what their standard letter said (that I should pay the balance within 7 days), one phonecall to them confirmed they would stick to what they said originally and let me pay by bankers draft once I have the vehicle in my driveway in January.

They also said they would register and tax it prior to delivery, which is pretty good of them and shows some mutual trust regarding payment etc.

So looking forward to getting it!! May be driving to Austria in it in April, already planning the trip!

Thanks for the update. I was beginning to wonder how you were getting on. Did you suffer the recent price increase of around £500?

cheers

Hi,

Not as far as I know, I asked them directly about this a couple of days ago and they said the price was unlikely to change from the price I ordered at.

They put the prices up on their website, but the Pro Forma invoice I got showed no price increase. When I rang them about the website increase they told me that it was because their UK dealership had reduced their commission payments.

If this is the case, then they can't increase the price, because their contract says they only increase price if the price from SEAT UK goes up. As I ordered the car before the price increase, I am hoping and assuming this won't affect me.

Here's hoping !

UPDATE!

After getting the Pro Forma invoice through from Micronet, I phoned them a couple of days ago to confirm delivery date. I was told the new Alhambra would be at the Nottingham dealer on the 19th December.

The lady I spoke to wasn't exactly a customer service expert to be honest, having been running my own business for many years and trained better work experience 15 year olds. She more or less said "wait 'till you hear from us..."; all I asked was for her to find out a delivery date and get back to me.

Still, to give the company the benefit of the doubt, they can't be making large margins......

So, I emailed one of the partners today, David Loach, and will see what the reply is. I've asked for the the delivery to be before 10th January if possible, as we have family visiting after then and the new Alhambra will come in very handy! I've also confirmed the verbal agreement made with David Maguire, their sales person - at the time of ordering - that I could pay with a bankers draft on delivery or on collection of the new vehicle, as the letter I received from the company a few weeks ago requested payment of the balance within 7 days.

I did phone straight away and query this with David Maguire, and he re-assured me that the payment on delivery was still fine, but when I telephoned a couple of days ago the lady seemed unaware of this agreement.

So I await the response - and the car. I've only parted with £1000 on credit card so far, so if all goes pear shaped I will certainly get the money back.

Just as an aside - this forum is great for keeping records of events in this kind of thing!

I've already had a serious turn around from SEAT UK about a warranty issue as a result of pointing them to my thread on the issue on this forum - THANK YOU! seatcupra.net, for the wonderful service and community you provide, free of charge to all of us.

If you ever need a mirror set up or a PHP programmer I would happily volunteer.

shirudell - thanks - keep us posted about your experiences with Micronet. I've just noticed on the Seat website that they are offering the SX for S on the Alhambra (well all models actually). I also noticed that Micronet offer the SX for quite a bit cheaper still - like £1000 or so. However - Micronet offer 3 integrated child seats for ~£400, when the SX has two as std??? Not sure about the rest of the spec...

I also want to trade in our second car (nooo not the Leon ;)), something which micronet do not offer. It will be interesting to see what my local dealer can do :D

Phoned Micronet again today. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I'm sure like most of us they are very busy after the holiday.

I was told that I should be updated within the next day or two.

I didn't get a reply from my last email, but as I telephoned today on their first day back after Christmas, I will sit tight for a few days and see what happens.

Fingers crossed I'll be in the new Bammer in the next week or so!!

After some stated problems with the supply chain, I've been told today that Micronet have two available Bammers for delivery next week!

One Silver with Swivelling seats and CD Changer (PDi 130 SE), £18,920 and one Platinum with CD Changer (Also PDi 130SE), £18,820.

The price has increased a little bit, but not too significantly, since I ordered the car originally.

So one of these will be wending its way to me next weekend if all goes well!

I post again when I have the car!

I don't think they do, it may be worth emailing Richard@micronetshowroom.com to find out.

The only thing I would say though, is that SEAT have increased prices and Richard has reduced the margin in the car to more closely match my agreed price, so I'm not sure they would be able to do quite the same pricing, it may be 4 or 5 hundred pounds more, to a new customer. But email him and see what he says! Good luck!

Probably the Platinum Grey one, as although it doesn't have the swivelling front seats as we originally ordered, my wife doesn't like the SEAT Silver colour. ;)

I hope to pick up the Platinum Grey SE next week. It doesn't have either the swivelling seats or the CD Changer now, as they wanted to charge me an extra £300 for the CD Changer! Mmm. I think I'll fit one myself when I get the car!

So all going well, they have said they will call next week to arrange delivery. I am hoping to get the new car by Saturday.

Total price (latest) £18,820. This means I am paying about £600 more than orginally agreed taking into account the absence of the swivelling seats or changer unit, but even so a good price I believe.

More next week... :>:

Got the final invoice yesterday! Micronet have stuck to the agreement, and despite a dealership price rise, they are staying very close to the original agreed price.

I was told two weeks ago that the new car was ready, and to expect a call the following week re: delivery. Only yesterday I emailed to ask what was going on and then the post arrived!

Brand new PD 130 SE, with in-dash 6-CD changer, inc VAT, registration and a year's tax, £18,820.

I am, needless to say, very pleased :) Will not totally relax however until the car is gleaming on my driveway ;)

Overall experience of Micronet so far; I would say it's a little bit like watching a suspense thriller - moments of fear and doubt, occasionally rising panic, but - hopefully - it all works out in the end! My only issue so far with them has been rather poor communication, but as they are making so little profit I guess that's to be expected. I don't believe they are making very much at all on this deal because of price changes and supplier problems, I was told they are supplying at cost now to fulfill the order. So all credit to them they seem to have kept their word.

More news soon! I have the registration number to be (1st march reg), and chassis number, so all looks fine. Paying the balance by BD on collection.

Fingers crossed!

I drove to Nottingham yesterday and picked up my new Bammer!!

Superb Car! Supplied by a very good UK dealership, even handed over to me by the dealership boss who drove it specially to Nottingham that morning to meet my pick-up deadline.

They normally home deliver but I was being cautious with my money and wanted to pay by bankers draft so had to collect.

I have to say that I am very, very happy. It's in perfect condition, PDI checked and fully UK sourced so full warranty, only fault was a stone chip on the bonnet picked up during delivery journey.

I met the chaps and chapesses at Micronet and they were very nice. Nice offices in the centre of Nottingham too.

Total cost for brand new 130 Tdi SE PD : £18,820 !!!

BTW Platinum grey is a lovely colour!

Glad to hear that your happy with the new Bammer.... U just need to run it in easy first 1k then open it up... - I have a 130 on loan at the moment.... Nice car... Even did some quick figures on whether to shift up an engine size (al be it only 15bhp..)

When you get a chance, post some pics, & join up the SCNSSC Club, you'd be the second Bammer in the Club......

ps change your sig.... & your profile details, to reflect the 130 Bammer..
