Anyone tried out steam car washing?

It looks quite good, eco friendly as it uses a tiny amount of water compared to handwashing or automated carwashes and going by the video at the bottom of the page (that i've posted the link to) its safe for ferrari's so i'm sure seats would be ok too. :D

Might give it a go for £5 next time i'm buying a billy bookcase.

Looks pretty good but I wonder how the detailing brigade will take to this?

I'm confused... surely steam is 100degC? Wouldn't that be melting the skin off his hands?

I guess it would work well on surface oils and grease, surely though if the car was waxed it would melt the wax too?

They claim the steam is generated at 80° to 90°, which really wouldn't be steam in the sense of super heated water vapour, but it would be condensed warm steam as its being expelled into cooler air.

I would also be concerned about the fact your simply wiping away at the paint work with a cloth, surely its going to scratch the paint work with no soapy lubrication to capture and hold the particles. ;) They reckon it softens and lifts the dirt, but I'm not convinced by the marketing speak.

Jury is out I think, would like to see it in action, the YouTube vid doesn't really do it justice.

it says you're saving water yes but what about the amount of electricity you're using to generate that steam? must be a pretty powerful element!

All I can see from that video is him adding swirls to the car!
