Just a quicky. I have a Seat Leon Cupra, and I am thinking of chopping it in for a Toledo 2.3 V5. I am however extremely worried about this "floaty" ride at high speed. How bad is it, and at what speed does it do this? Ive had a bad experience with the Leon, and shall be swapping it at the dealership for another car of my choice . . . . which could be a Leon Cupra, Toledo 2.3 V5, or whatever! What do you think?

our company passat pool car did this when i drove it for the first time (with 67k on the clock)

I got them to change the dampers (by crashing it) and now it doesn't have any unusual issues

thanks for the tip m0rk. its just that i have seen other logs on the forum about this issue, and have read about it in new car review magazines. Its claimed that the Toledo is a great motor, as you have Leon style performance with all the toys, at a fraction of the price of an equivalent Audi or B*W. However they do mention this floaty ride, and this would be on extremely new cars, with not much mileage.

In normal driving I haven't noticed a floaty ride - it always seems pretty well planted. The best way to find out is take one out on a test drive by yourself and explore the 100mph+ regions! ;) The V5 engine is great, not punchy like the 1.8T, but smooth and linear power delivery. Great noise!

Maybe im worring about nothing. Has anybody driven a leon Cupra and a Toledo 2.3 V5. If so what would be charted as the main drive differences? I know about the kit level differences (I think) but am interested in exactly how it drives. Are the modable as well? Is it possible to tweek the engines in any way? The ECU cant be chipped like the 1.8T i pressume. How big is the scene on Cupra Net for the Toledo? I realise its not as big as the Leon and 'beezer, but approx how many members are toledo owners?

yup - the 1.8T ECU won't be anything unusual - so 'chips away'

Mine is not a V5, it is a simple 1.8 signo.

From the first day, I have been experiencing that floaty ride. But I solved the problem recently. The problem with my car was tyres. It came with Firestone Firehawk 680s. I replaced them with Pirelli P7 s. Now the ride is great..

Hope this helps you..

2.3 V5 is not very mod friendly - you can re-map it for a 10-15 bhp gain, filter, exhaust etc. but thats about it with out spending monster money on something like a supercharger.

Stu is on the money when it comes to the mods. But that is pretty much true of all non turbo or supercharged motors.
The floaty ride occurs ator above 110, but the Leon is pretty much the same deal.
