I have a Momo Sphere gearknob on the Ibiza and I wish to remove it.

I went to undo the cap thing at the bottom and it won't budge, so I to undo it with my pliers but it only scratched the metal.

Does anyone else have any ideas as to how I can get it off?

I will get a pic of the gearknob to show you what I'm talking about.

I fitted it yeah.

Its the collar I can't get off. Behind the collar are 3 allen bolts that undo and then the gear knob slides off. As soon as I can get the collar to budge it'll all be easy!

Try putting some insulating tape around it & undoing it with a Chain Wrench or Waterpump pliers. If it starts to tear the tape without udoing, at least you can stop without damaging it,

Madog, thats the 2nd thing I tried and no matter how much more tape I put on it still ripped and wouldn't budge.

Saul, wouldn't that just cause a small fire in the car?

not if ya careful :hammer:

use a hair dryer, or a heat gun (avid diy'ers always have one)

edit: saul cannot be sued if your car goes up in flames :D
