My drivers side wing mirror heater seems to have given up the ghost. Has anybody else had this problem and been able to solve it without recoarse to a dealer.

Theoretically it should either be a problem with the wiring to the heater element or the heater element, neither insurmountable problems to fix. However, has anybody stripped the wing mirrors down. It looks like just undoing the screws underneath?

Had 2 heated mirror failures on my last V5. Both times the glass, which has the heated element stuck on the back, needed replacing. Both times the dealers changed them they broke the old glass taking it out. So from my experience I wouldn't recommed pulling them apart unless you have a replacement glass to hand.

Managed to remove mirror glass which was suprisingly easy. Checked all contacts and it appeared to be the heating elemement. Replaced mirror at an exorbitant £45. Waiting a chance to test the result.

If you switch them on the glass actually gets warm to the touch, my rivers side mirror wasn't working cause it hadn't been connected which I hear is quit common.
